how it went down

The show's officially over.  It was a long three days.  The best part was getting to know some of the crazy vendors surrounding me and meeting a few of my readers who made the jaunt just to see me:)  There is nothing quite like meeting someone face to face for the first time who knows everything about you and you know absolutely nothing about them.  It's really weird, but really wonderful all at once.

The people next to me were characters to say the least;)  Thought this was hilarious.

I feel like this show was a huge success.  I stepped out and did something that has always terrified me, and I learned a lot in the process.  I learned that it's a tremendous amount of work.  I learned that I really don't like selling my stuff.  I'm much more comfortable making it and sitting behind a computer screen blogging about it:)  I learned that I don't know what in the world I want concerning this little business of mine.  I learned that without the support of your friends and family you will never be successful.  It's been interesting and exhausting and I'm more glad that it's over.  I'm actually giddy with relief.

The highlight of the show was when the owner of one of my favorite store's walked up and introduced herself.  She told me she loved all my stuff and wanted to know if I would consider consigning with her.  I about fell over from complete shock.  I am not even kidding when I say that having my stuff in that store has ALWAYS been my dream.  It was surreal!  When she walked away I cried.  I cried because if for no other reason than that it was meant for me to walk out in faith.  God had a divine appointment for me.

So this week I'm stepping back.  I'm going to clean my bathrooms, hug on my children and honey, maybe take a walk and just breathe.  I can't wait to get back to normal.  Thank you all so much for your wonderful words of advice and for cheering me on.  I need you girls...I miss you girls.

Have a blessed day.

Day 35 of 49

Okay I'm warning you in advance this might be a little bit of a whiny ranting post. I weighed this morning and I have gained three pounds:o It is no wonder with my vacation and all, but I quickly lost the weight last week and then this morning voila...it was back. Why God Why?! OHHHH I remember I ate an ice cream cone and some Girl Scout cookies this weekend. That's the problem with vacation...even after you come back it's hard to get back into the eating groove.

This is totally inappropriate to say with Mother's day just passing, but sometimes I really despise being a woman! This is how my month goes. Week one feeling great on top of the world and in control. At the end of week two ovulation hits and I get crampy bloated and hungry for 2-3 days. Week three I'm pretty good until the end and then PMS hits. We all know about that, with me I actually get the added perk of looking 5 months pregnant. Then the week of my period comes and I'm so tired that I completely lack any motivation to push myself at the gym blah, blah, blah! It's just a roller coaster. Any progress that is made is zapped...month after month. It's no wonder that many of us just throw up our hands and give up.

I'm not giving in though, nooooo just the opposite. I am determined to push through and actually get to the other side. Which brings me to my inspiration photo of the week...Tara from the Biggest Loser. She is just a fighter. I love her drive, passion and desire to win! It is so incredibly motivating. Every week when I watch I seriously have to have a tissue box next to me because I am crying so much. Well the finale is tonight and you HAVE to watch it. It is the most amazing sight to see these before and after's...regardless of whether you need to lose weight or not, WATCH it!!

Goals for this week:

Write down all of my calories - even on the weekend!!

Stick with the workouts - push hard.

Don't get sidetracked by the special occasion stuff this week.

Thanks for listening.

Color Splash

Okay I have to admit I have a little crush on David Bromstad. He is just an amazing designer on HGTV's Color Splash. I love watching decorating shows, but most pale in comparison to his. If you don't know him already David won season one of HGTV's reality show Design Star and after studying animation became an Illustrator for Disney. His path ended him on the reality show and the grand prize was his own show!

It's taped in San Francisco and it's just beautiful. His assistant Danielle has my dream job doing faux finishes on everything from furniture to walls to kitchen cabinetry. They make a great team and his carpenter is the best. They look like they are having so much fun, and the best part is that I learn something every week when I watch. His designs are bold and colorful which I love!
He creates all of his own artwork and they tape him actually painting it. Which I would find extremely intimidating, but he's just that good. Anyway if you have never seen it check it out on HGTV, Monday's at 9:00.

Have a blessed day!

After the final rose FIASCO!!

What the???
Every year my husband and I watch The Bachelor. There was the year that Brad Womak didn't choose either girl and then there was the Bachelorette that did the same thing and I vowed never to watch again. Well every year I get sucked in again and this year was a doosy. I've spent how many weeks watching this man (Jason Mesnick) dote on all these women? He had me actually believing that he was a sweet sincere sensitive guy. That was until he proposed to Melissa for the finale and then 6 weeks later broke up with her on the After the Final Rose show and said he wanted back with Molly. What a royal jerk!! I am so disgusted right now that I just had to vent. Poor Melissa! How humiliating and embarrassing. I mean minutes before I was in tears...so happy for them. Imagine how she feels. Couldn't he have picked a better time? Oh well I guess that will teach me watching "reality" television is probably not the best idea. Now if only I didn't like it so much:)

Desperate Housewives

I'm not sure if any of you caught the January 18th episode of Desperate Housewives, but it was oh so good. I'm a little slow, I have a DVR and finally got around to watching it last night. It was seriously the best episode of that show I've ever seen. I couldn't believe how good the writers did at making it compassionate and fairly "wholesome". Except for the one scene where Edie seduces the handyman. How can she possibly look that good?? I had to rewind. She is just in the best shape ever... Holy Cow! The episode was about their handyman Eli Scruggs. He passes away and it recalled from each woman their memories of how he shaped their lives. It was such a great reminder of the impact each one of us has on the lives of those around us. Anyway I want to be like Eli Scruggs. Instead of minding my own business, I want to care about others and to make a point of listening and helping when I can. If you missed this episode and want to watch it you can view it on ABC.com. It's called "The Best thing that ever could have happened", episode 13. It's definitely worth the time...so good:)

The Biggest Loser

I am a huge fan of the Biggest Loser. The new season starts on Tuesday, Jan. 6th on NBC...YEAH! It totally motivates me. I DVR each episode and watch it as I do my elliptical machine workouts. My favorite trainer is Jillian Michaels. She just looks amazing. I figure if she can motivate those people who weigh in at 300-400 pounds to lose weight with diet and exercise, than I can get myself going to lose those measly 10 pounds. I just bought the new Biggest Loser Family Cookbook. I'm going to start experimenting with those recipes. I'll let you know if it's any good.
