Faux Tin Backsplash

(Before)
I thought I would show you some pictures of any easy kitchen redo. I have a couple of friends who had tin backsplashes in their kitchens and it was just beautiful. I love the look of anything vintage, so this idea really appealed to me. Both of them said it was a pretty time consuming job. The tin is really hard to work with.
(After)
I was at Home Depot not long after that and found some "faux" tin. It was the easiest thing to work with. Seriously I did the entire kitchen myself in about 4 hours!! It was relatively inexpensive as well. I think I spent maybe $200. The sheets cut easily with scissors and I just nailed it to the wall. You can use glue too. Instant makeover:)

Superbowl Sunday

I'm kind of a dork, so bear with me. I have a couple of new followers for my blog and I'm just thrilled. It's so exciting to have people visit my blog from "other places". I love to read blogs, but for people to stumble onto mine and become a follower...oh it's just really cool. Anyway thanks and welcome!!
Last night we had some friends over to watch the Superbowl. We always cheer for the underdog team, which of course was the Phoenix Cardinals. They unfortunately lost...booooo. But we all had lots of fun anyway. I made yummy sandwiches called Maidrites (kind of like sloppy joes) and we ate our fill of chips with queso dip and veggies. The kids played and the "girls" stole away to watch a movie in the other room. I thought I would include my recipes for the night.

Maidrite Sandwiches:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Simmer ground beef and onion until brown. Drain. Add rest of ingredients and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. You can definitely put this in a crock pot. Serve on hamburger buns.

Creamy Hash Brown Bake:

  • 1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package (28 ounces) frozen hash brown potatoes
  • 3/4 cup crushed potato chips **I put alot more than this
  • In a large bowl, combine the soups, sour cream, butter, onion and salt. Add potatoes; mix well. Pour into a greased 13-in. X 9-in. baking dish. Sprinkle with potato chips. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes or until the potatoes are tender. Serves 10-12.

Progressive Dinner...Progressive Life

Last night our neighborhood had a progressive dinner. It's where all of you meet at one house for appetizers and then the next house has main dishes and then you finish at the last house with dessert. It's really fun and a great way to catch up with everyone after being stuck inside all winter.

(My honey)
It was during dessert that my husband turned to me and said "Where are we?". I didn't get it until we got home and he explained what he meant. It seems like yesterday we were 16, going on dates doing what teenagers do and then poof. Here we are now, mature adults, 2 kids, at an "adult" dinner party! How does it happen? Where does the time go? It's just really weird, especially since we've been together for so long to look back over the seasons of our lives. Next thing you know we'll be sitting in our rockers recalling our lives at this age...remember when??

Slumber Party!

(Missy and me)

(Michelle and Amy)

"Oh Girl's just wanna have fun"!! Well last night we did. We had an old fashioned Slumber Party with all the fixin's...pizza, chocolate milk shakes, candy. We watched one of my favorite movies, "Fun with Dick and Jane".

We painted our nails and stayed up really late sharing bits about our faith, families and just our journey as women ...no detail spared! It's absolutely wonderful to make time for friends and I think it's vital to our existence. We need each other and honestly I think life would be awfully lonely without them.
