you belong

Happy Good Friday friends.  I asked my girlies this morning what Good Friday was and they both just looked at me with blank stares on their faces!  Uh can you say giant fail feeling as a parent this morning:\  I even helped them along...Sunday is Easter right?  Jesus rose from the grave right??  What would have happened on FRIDAY??!!  Again blank stares...oh and then the lights came on and little chick figured it out.  Jesus died!  YES!!!!!!  He died.  That's major.

How do I even begin to type how major that was??!  IS!!!  He died.  He took my place, my shame, my guilt...my sin.  He took it all on himself, so I wouldn't have to bear it.  He died for me.  ME!  And you!!!  And it didn't stop there...He conquered death!!  PRAISE GOD!

I am so humbled by His love.  So humbled by the gospel...as a parent I love my girls more than anything.  The thought of any pain or suffering coming to them makes me cringe.  I want to scoop them up and protect them from it all.  Yet God allowed His SON to take our human wrongs and make them right.  Oh dear Jesus...I'm so unworthy.  Just the thought brings me to my knees.

That unworthy feeling is what I think keeps some away.  How can I be good enough?  How could He possibly forgive all that I've done??  I'm nothing.  And if I do ask Him in...ask Him to forgive...will my life change?  Will I really be different?  Can I have a relationship with someone I can't see?  It all seems so hard to believe.  Too far out there to be real.  I'll be trespassing where I don't belong.  I could never fit in with all that faith stuff.

But it is real.  If you are on the fence...if you are cold in your heart and you feel far from Him, I promise if you open His word, if you reach out to Him...He is RIGHT THERE.  He is waiting for you.  He loves you SO much.  He knows your past.  He knows your hurts.  He knows every single thing you hold dear and He wants to scoop you up and carry you.

He loves you.  He died for you.  Ask Him to live in your heart.  To take all that garbage away.  He will.  Draw near...let Him carry you.

Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Be a blessing.

Unexpected Blessing

Recently I was walking through a new grocery store close to my house that has a nice gift section. They had some really cute little Easter chicks and bunnies and I fell in love with them, had them in my cart and carried them throughout the entire store. Then right before I checked out I decided to put them back because I'm trying not to impulse buy anymore.
Well this week when I went to my bible study my friend Kristine whipped out a sack and said "here I thought of you when I saw these", and low and behold she gave me my two little chicks...Big chick and Little chick:) Isn't that God? He used her to bless my socks off. He never fails to amaze me. I just had to share.

Have a blessed day!

Easter Memories

Our fun-filled Easter weekend continued on Saturday night with the dying of the Easter eggs. We really love doing this. If only it weren't for the mess! Notice the extensive measures we went to not to get any on the counter or on the girl's shirts:) It sure brings back childhood memories. After the eggs we watched the Jesus movie. I think we are going to make that a tradition. It was really good.
Our lovely Chicks on Easter Morning. We had our own kick-butt indoor Easter egg hunt. It was sooo fun. After the fiasco, the day before it wouldn't take much to beat that:) Later after church we went to our neighbor's house for a wonderful lunch and another Easter egg hunt!! It was rockin' too I might add. My lovely friend Kelly decorated all of the kid's pails with their names on it and went to an extraordinary amount of trouble to make sure all of them got certain "special" eggs with goodies like nail polish and lip gloss! Isn't she the best?!

Full on action shots of the girls huntin' down those eggs. They had a blast and it was so cute to see them desperately looking for the eggs and then running right past them. Those darn eggs are kind of hard to see;0

Last but not least, me and my honey.
Isn't he cute? We had such a wonderful Easter spent with our loved ones. Hope you did too!!
Have a blessed day!

Life Lessons - Easter Style

With great memory making anticipation this morning we got up early, rushed around, and got to Excelsior for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. What we didn't anticipate were the thousands of other people who had the same idea. What should have been a great experience went as follows: Little chick didn't want to "hunt" for eggs. She wanted sissy to help her. Tears were in full force. I actually thought we were beyond this now...oh how I was wrong. So when they blew the whistle big chick and I went in to help her. We got 3 eggs...wow, right?
This is little chick in the pink hoodie with her sad scared face on. Big chick is in the purple sweatshirt right behind me with her excited hopeful helpful face on. Sad thing is while big chick was helping us, her egg hunt started (by mistake I might add) and by the time she got there all the eggs were gone and she got ZERO. Now this was devastating for her! We had worked so hard to get there and waited so patiently and then she missed out...so now big chick is in tears!! I explained how disappointing life can be and how you have to keep it in perspective...blah, blah, blah. But honestly it hurt me too. I can actually feel my heart break when my kids are disappointed. So what do I do to compensate?? I ran to Target and got all kinds of eggs and we are having our own indoor Easter egg hunt tomorrow. So there mean cruel unfair world...take that!

Have a blessed day!
