In the wee hours of this morning as my coffee was brewing I decided I should share some of my Christmas house with you. I wish I could say it was decorated in love and with smiles and cheer. That Christmas music was merrily playing in the background, and fir scented candles wafted through the air.
Honestly it was more like sweat dripping between my _____. And me grumbling under my breath. The joy of the holiday and all the meaning wrapped around it were definitely not there. I think I threw baby Jesus and the whole lot in the back seat like a second thought instead of the focus and adoration He so obviously deserves. Can you say convicted??
Every year is the same. There is the opportunity to do it right...to get it all done and have the right attitude, OR in my case feel completely overwhelmed and miss the meaning altogether.
Well I've made up my mind I'm done complaining. I'm done decorating and fussing about little details that do not matter at all. I want to enjoy every second of what Christmas really is. And it doesn't have a thing to do with Santa or Elf on a shelf or garland, or twinkle lights or any of the traditions that we do every year. It has everything to do about HIM.
There is a song I've been listening to in the car by Dara Maclean called "The Day that Love was Born". Every time it rolls over on my cd I hit replay over and over...the words seeping into my soul. He is LOVE pure and simple, and he was given just for us. If you really really focus on that fact it almost takes your breath away. How is it that I could get distracted by anything else? Forgive me Lord. May my heart be turned toward you always.

In the spirit of giving...my friend Jeanne Oliver is hosting a give-away on my blog...YAY!!! Her winter collection is absolutely dreamy. Have you seen her lookbook yet?? I still can't believe that the girl I met a few years back at Brave Girl Camp is doing this. I mean she's a designer for cryin' out loud. With a catalog!!! That she photographed herself...what??
