This was my porch all harvesty and fallish. Every year we do mums and pumpkins. We never carve them so they usually last until Thanksgiving. But this year I'm all gungho for Christmas for some reason and I thought I'd show you how it looks now.
My friend Kristine...really inspired me by taking me to this florist wholesale place. Talk about overwhelming. Aisles and aisles of greenery, little berries, branches, ribbon etc... It was awesome.
When I left I had all kinds of goodies to fill up my wooden baskets. These baskets are really special to us and never leave our front porch. Honey's dad made them and they look so good with greenery in them. Who knew? I've never decorated the outside for winter. Just lazy I guess...or TOO COLD! Anyway I got 4 greenery bundles, 2 berry bundles, a blueish white bundle, a snowy branch with pine cones and a willowy tree thing to fill each one in. I think I got all of it for around $80 at that wholesale place, and it will last me years. So yay!
Kristine came over and we just ripped out my poor old mums and shoved the bundles right down into the dirt. Easy peasy. Seriously took us all of 10 minutes to decorate the front porch.
She helped me wrap some pretty red and white ribbon on my old wreath and my little goose. We threw some IKEA pillows on the chairs and voila! Instant makeover. I don't know why I never did this before. It's so cheery & happy. May just be the ticket to enjoying winter a little more.
How about you? Do you fancy up your outside for winter??
Have a blessed day.

I have to get on the Christmas band wagon. My sister already has her tree up.
ReplyDeleteI may have to copy your red and white ribbon - love it. Oh, and the branches too - I may add lights.
Very pretty :)
Gorgeous! I do a little..depending on how cold it is here in IL. :) I love to use my antique sleds on our front porch. I prop one up by each of our urns, and add a big bow and some greens.
ReplyDeletelooks great! love the red gingham on the wreath!
ReplyDeletei'm starting to peek through some of my decorations too....just trying to wait until next week.
we'll see if i can make it
Yeah, we decorate inside and outside our house...haven't started yet, but I'm sure we will after Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteYou and your porch are just too skinkin cute! Nothing like a festive goose to brighten up a porch, I always say!
ReplyDeleteyep...I fancy up for winter....
ReplyDeleteyour porch looks awesome....love the baskets...especially knowing that your honey's dad made them...makes them extra special!
the red and white ribbon kind of makes it all POP....LOVE the wreath with the snow....
Looks really nice. I love those wooden baskets and all the Christmas decorating. You look good too, very happy! Seeing ski coats and wooly hats are making me chilly...Yikes!
ReplyDeletewell look how pretty that looks. love it. i don't decorate too much outside. i stick to the inside.
ReplyDeleteI love it. Greenery always does a world of differance.
ReplyDeleteI've got big aspirations to just keep the front porch, of our home, all homey, welcomeing, & decorated... and it way it is with kids outdoor toys, etc. ((sigh))
You're inspiring me to "work on this, this year".
Yes! We're already decorated inside and working on the outside. Christmas is coming!
ReplyDeleteAnd your porch looks lovely!
I love you pots! They are so rustic and beautiful, and work with anything! Nice inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour porch looks lovely, Becky! I think that wholesale place would have been fun AND overwhelming. I have never decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving, but this year, I think I may just start. I do feel guilty, though!
ReplyDeleteWe usually just string up lights for Christmas. We put them up the weekend after Thanksgiving and keep them up until New Years Day. But you've given me inspiration! I think I just may decorate my porch now too. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love the checked ribbon! I haven't started yet, but can't wait to!
ReplyDeletePretty, Pretty!! I do decorate my porch for winter and put up Christmas lights. I love the check ribbon. I had some of that a few years ago and can't find it anymore! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. I haven't started on a winter porch yet. I live in the desert now so it's hard to get in the mood. I'm hanging on to fall still!
ReplyDeleteLove your winter porch...so pretty & festive! We like to decorate outdoors as well as indoors for the holidays. But now, I think I need to get some pretty greenery that I can keep out all winter long:)
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful!!! i'm so ready to get started. I focus on the entryway as well, greenery, sticks, wreath,
ReplyDeletexo,
LuLu
It looks really pretty Becky! Love the baskets! I just decorated my window boxes yesterday! I don't do too much but I do love some things outside! What a great store too! Holy overwhelming at first but I think I could spend days there! :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice...simple yet so festive. I love, love the red gingham ribbon.
ReplyDeletelooks great! Glad you guys had fun doing that together.
ReplyDeleteYour porch is so charming! I love the simplicity of your wreath, it's really beautiful. As for us, we're just really big on doing lights outside. But it's hard work, and like I said before, it's been pretty warm down here in FL so I think we'll wait to do the lights when it's a bit cooler. Oha and I adore the handmade baskets too!
ReplyDeleteLove it Becky and LOVE the baskets - perfect decor for the front porch!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that you are getting into the spirit. It looks welcoming. You girls done well.Nice to see you smiling in your pic too!!Keep warm and cozy.Enjoy your day..Chickie
ReplyDeleteYour wood baskets are so cool!! They look really great decorated for Fall and Winter!!
ReplyDeleteSO CUTE!! We decorate the outside for Christmas. I always wait until the first weekend of December to put it all up.
ReplyDeleteI'm hangin on to the pumpkins a little longer, but if I had snow I would probably think twice. Your's looks great. It won't be long and I'll have to pull some of the Christmas stuff out. Jackie
ReplyDelete*gasp!* Sooo Pretty! Where's my winter coat? I'm gonna come hang out with ya!
ReplyDeletelooks fantatic Becky! I love the wreath so pretty and the baskets are darling, I think it is just what your little house needed for winter!
ReplyDeleteoh, winter decorating is a must! I love your front porch...anything helps when winter is so long and depressing! Well done, friend :)
ReplyDeleteIt's GREAT having friends
ReplyDeletein the know.....you KNOW?!
I haven't switched to
Christmas yet, but I will.
Love the greens and berries!
And the smiley girl on the
front porch. That's always
the BEST touch!
xx Suzanne
Girl, I have been a little bit down in the dumps because of my hair, and our life situation, (contingency ended and our realty contract ended... and no direction any which way!) so thinking about Christmas and fun decorations has been the fun thing in my life. How sad is that? We'll have to talk about it over the phone. I've been avoiding talking to my girl friends because I don't want to depress people... which tells me that I probably need to talk to girl friends. Ya know? Good old gab session. Anyway, I love what you did here. Very homey and welcoming! I'm going to find a branch to spray paint today. That is the extent of my Christmas decorating for now. Ha!
ReplyDeleteLove ya sweetie.
~*~*LOve it Becky!! It looks so inviting!! Hugs,Rachel~*~*
ReplyDeleteOh, that's cutie cute cute. Last year was our first year living in this house, so it seemed like we were just in 'survival' mode for awhile, adjusting to our new place, and I didn't even think to do decorating outside. However, this year, I'm hoping to 'cute' it up a bit. We need that cuteness to help us survive these winters!
ReplyDeleteI really want to fancy up, but with the farm for sale it seems to me, it will say...I'm staying. But I suppose I should, it's time to get the glorious Christmas decor out! I was hoping the photo of you sitting on your front porch would get smaller and smaller so I could see the whole front of your house!
ReplyDeleteWe did the inside of our house last night. This Saturday I'm hitting the front & back porches & I can't wait!! My husband has no idea yet, but he's getting on the roof to put up my huge wreath come Saturday morning :)
ReplyDeletePS - looks great!
Becky- It looks so beautiful. I am really excited for Christmas this year too for some reason. I might just get inspired by this.
ReplyDeleteLooks great...I love it! Great job. I have to get the pumpkins in the trash...still out in the front and then I just do spruce tops in the window boxes with berries and sticks!
ReplyDeleteI love to decorate the outside lots of lights and greens and ribbons it's so fun. Love what you did!! I'm in the mood for Christmas stuff too. I usually don't do it until after Thanksgiving. Christmas is going to be great this year!!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous, girl! i'm jealous. i do have a wreath, and some lights, and am so excited to put up a tree... but for now, i'm listening to christmas music and waiting for december. :) xo
ReplyDeleteI love the ribbon! Thanks for the motivation. I haven't started yet.
ReplyDeleteIt does look cheery, just sort of beckons you inside!
ReplyDeleteI never have been an outdoor decorator, but I'm thinking now that I have a cute front porch complete with porch swing, this might just be the year. :-)
Hugs,
Anne
Looks great! I love the snowy wreath and the pops of red! I've can not wait for Thanksgiving to get here - I've got to get my Christmas decor going I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are very cute. I have a porch as well, and I love to decorate it. I'm usually out there in the cold putting up lights and my vintage santa in my red wagon. I can't wait to get started.
ReplyDeleteYEP, I do decorate outside. Some years more than others. I love your wreath! Simple & beautiful! I actually said "love" out loud...well...kinda sang it...haha...yeah, I did.
ReplyDelete:)
It looks great but I want to see a picture of the chairs!
ReplyDeletevery festive ! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, it looks so beautiful, and festive. Please come over and help me with my porch. I am so anxious to do some decorating outside of our new home!
ReplyDeleteExcept for a wreath, we don't do much outside for winter. Before I met my hubby I put out Christmas lights one year, but they were voted worst display on the street, so that was my one and only time for that. Pitiful. :) But now I'm inspired - I love the arrangements by your door. Cute and festive! Who knows, maybe I'll venture out there this year.
ReplyDeleteWe are in a new house this year, so I am looking forward to trying something new for the porch!
ReplyDeleteHey you... pretty girl!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou porch looks gorgeous and so do you... :)
What a way to make a difference..decorating outside...love it! And love what you've done!!!
My front door is black too..cant wait to decorate mine too...:)
Deborah xoxo
SO pretty!
ReplyDeleteAnd oh how I miss Ikea!
I just left a comment, but I don't think it went through, so if you get a double from me you will know why.
ReplyDeleteLove your cheery ribbon on the wreath and against your black door it really pops. I am sorry to admit that I haven't decorated outside for a few years, ever since my oldest daughter and family moved away and haven't been able to come home during the holidays. But I am going to change that this year because you have inspired me to go out and buy some cheery ribbon of my own and put it on an old wreath I have in storage.
I am so thankful for friends that inspire me to change! Love ya Becky!

Wow! Becky, your way better then my idol, Martha Stewart. :) I *love* both your fall and winter display on your front porch. The winter scene that both you and your friend created is gorgeous. It is so festive and made me smile. I love that you took photos of it and of each other. What a wonderful memory you have created. As for me.......I do not have an entrance way to my home that is covered enough to create a winter display. But I do put mums and pumpkins on the steps in the fall and flowers in the summer. I wish now that I had taken photos this year but was not thinking. :(
ReplyDeletemary
Love the porch and that you've "done it up" already. I'm planning to fix up my window boxes for the first time this since we moved here six years ago. You've given me some great ideas!
ReplyDeleteChris
love the festivity... your porch certainly looks cheery! the wreath is my favorite part! we put wreaths on all the windows in front of our house and lights w/ green branchy garland on our porch railings... just thinking about it makes me want it up NOW! the most wonderful time is here!
ReplyDeleteWe light up our palm trees...and put a wreathe full of tropical fruits and flowers on our door.
ReplyDeleteWhen in Rome....
SO SO BEAUTIFUL!

ooooooh! I just love it!! I hope to have an outside to decorate for winter soon!
ReplyDelete(I can't believe you have already had snow! brrrr!)
Blessings!
Jill
I still have pumpkins on the front porch!! Something tells me I'm behind...
ReplyDeleteOnce that snow hits it is good to kick those mums to the curb :) I don't know about you but all this snow is sure good for the Christmas heart! :) My kids are wanting the trees up NOW! Not yet :) But I do LOVE your front porch!
ReplyDeleteYour pretty porch makes me want to send my dogs to the kennel for the entire month of December! The dogs would enjoy a month of vacation, my pocketbook couldn't.
ReplyDeleteBecky i just love red & white check! so cute! i found an old sled at a garage sale about a week ago for just a few $$$'s added a little bit of greenery & pulled a burlap bow off of last years wreath. I hung the sled on the wall of my porch... that is as far as i have gotten so far, but am planning on adding a pair of old ice skates to the wreath. all of this is a little funny since i live in San Antonio, and it NEVER snows.

Dearest Becky,
ReplyDeleteI am so enchanted with several things here:
1. Your painting style is breathtaking; I am an elementary teacher and there is nothing more pure in the human endeavor than the art of a child...and the style of a child-like spirit. I too illustrate, but never will I be a "detailed" artist of the pencil, but rather a detailed observer, illustrating only what I feel is important. Kudos to you for the freedom you put down on your canvas.
2. I am elated to know that you know Suzanne!!!! SHe is super and I felt I was touched by magic the two times I have met up with her. She is a generous soul and I look forward to more time with her. In my wildest of dreams, I would love to meet up with you as well...
3. Your music is excellent. It tells me about your faith; hallelujah....I too believe in "Trusting in Him."
I am very flattered that you would leave a comment for me. Thank you. I hope our paths cross again and you are a blessing. YOU LIVE HERE IN MINNESOTA!!! YYYYYYEEEEEHHHHHH!
Christmas is gonna be special as always...having so many lovely friends to share it with is a gift.
Many happy thoughts to you, Anita
Those baskets are fantastic Becky and since your FIL made them they are all the more special. Loving all your little touches ~ it looks wonderful. I decorate for Christmas but take everything down in the new year. It is on my to do list for the week-end. xo

ReplyDeleteVery pretty and welcoming! I deck out our urns and kitchen window box for the winter...I think this weekend will be nice so I should get to it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I might have to copy this!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! My poor porch needs some work. I still have my fall welcome mat out and everything! :)
