My happy list and a GIVEAWAY!!

It's finally here...Thanksgiving week.  I LOVE everything to do with Thanksgiving from the comfort food, to the focus on being grateful, to the coupons and shopping...oh and family and friends too;)  It's just great all the way around.

I wanted to let you know how much I'm thankful for each one of you too.  You brighten my days and really make me happy, so I'm having a little give-away:)  THREE lucky readers will receive a glass pendant or keychain of their choice...YAY!  To enter leave me a comment for what you're happy about.  EACH COMMENT will be an entry to win.  Leave lots and lots!  I will love reading through them and so will everyone else.

So to kick us off (in no particular order) here are just a few of the things on MY happy list:

1.)  Dairy Queen has pumpkin pie blizzards and I do not lie that a little tear popped out when I was eating mine!  If you like pumpkin pie you MUST run to DQ immediately and get one.

2.)  McDonald's has the McRib right now...limited time offer.  It reminds me of being twelve all over again.  I know that's weird, but it does:)  And just so you know I don't eat fast food very often at all, but this was a special "limited time offer";)  How can you pass that up!

3.)  My paintings make me sooo happy.  I've been really busy creating one of a kind home paintings for people and it makes me feel like a REAL TRUE artist.  Best feeling in the world!

4.)  My organizer thingy from IKEA completely transformed my mess of a studio into some place I actually want to be!  It's definitely a happy feeling being organized.

5.) My front porch beckons me home.  It cheers me up when I look out the window, drive away or pull up.  It's so beautiful.  I had a few of you want to see the whole thing.  So here it is:)

6.)  My girl's laughter and singing.  They pretty much chatter all the time and most of the time it drives me nuts, but I know that someday I will miss it...so I'm trying to take it in and just enjoy the noise:)

7.)  So incredibly blessed that God has given me so many special people in my life.  You know who you are.  You pour love on me when you listen...when you reach out and care.  You bless me beyond words.  I love you.

8.)  Oh and my sweet little Fergie.  She's my company during the day.  I just love that little bundle of fur:)  This is her new favorite spot.  We keep her in the laundry room when we're gone and she's found the perfect bed to lounge on!

That was just some of my happy things.  I can't wait to see what makes YOU happy!!!  I'm taking a little breather for the holiday and will let you know the winners AFTER Thanksgiving.  I hope you all have a wonderful week filled with all of God's goodness:)

Have a blessed day.

  3. Those are some great things to be thankful for. I love fall weather, blue skies, puffy clouds and the changing colors of leaves. I'm especially grateful for my daughter's love of cooking, because she will be doing all the cooking this Thanksgiving. All I have to do is set a pretty table which I love to do and the doing the dishes, which I don't mind at all if someone else does the cooking. I know I'm a little crazy!

Yet through the pain, every one in my family has said the same thing, "I am so happy she went home peacefully to her maker to be with her husband."
That is what we are thankful for this Thanksgiving. I am happy my grandmother is finally fulfilled. :)

  96. I am so glad that you wrote this post and I am eager to share.
Also I love the timing of this post as I will be (easily) pondering this question as I visit with friends and family over the Thanksgiving holiday.
AND! I will keep checking back and adding to the list of things that make me happy :)

What makes me happy? One, single lit-up tree in the middle of seemingly nowhere.

When I was a little girl, we used to travel by a reservoir that had a single evergreen tree lit up on an island in the middle of it. It was such a pretty sight and I always loved the opportunity to drive by there.
And now (a few decades later) one of our neighbors lights up a single tree in the thick woods in front of their house. I love to see it when we are driving home after dark. We all say "pretty tree!" when we drive by.
And just this past weekend when my husband was doing some work outside I went up to him and said "Do you know what would make me happy? If you were to put lights on that single crabapple tree out in the field near the garden so I could look out there after dark and see it."

  99. I am so glad that you posted this as I will spend the next few days pondering this question as I spend time with family and friends during the Thanksgiving holiday.
And I will look forward to coming back and adding to the list of things that make me happy (and try to win one of your beautiful necklaces :)
But for now ~ the answer to this question came to me very easily.

    What makes me happy?
A single lit-up tree seemingly in the middle of nowhere.

When I was a little girl growing up in Connecticut, we used to drive by a single evergreen tree that was lit up on an island in the middle of a reservoir.
I used to gaze out the window at it and felt thankful for any opportunity that we had to drive by that beautiful sight.
And now, decades later, one of our neighbors lights a single tree in the thick woods in front of thier house. I love to drive by it after dark and see it all lit up. We all say "Pretty tree!" when we drive by it on the way home.
And just the other day when my husband was doing some work outside in the yard I went to him and said "Do you know what would make me happy? If you were to put some lights on that single crabapple tree in the field out near the garden."

Simple pleasures ~ those are the things that make me happy :)

  100. I keep hearing about this 'McRib'. Has it been around a long time?? I am a vegetarian so I'm not gonna go get one - but I did try and make one at home. They have this meat substitute that tastes like BBQ ribs- I put it on a bun and didn't really taste anything amazing. It must be their sauce. ;) I do remember a limited time only- sandwich from McDonald's called 'the Arch Deluxe' though. Oh my goodness... so good! I might eat meat - just to taste that again, okay not really, but it really was so good!

  104. I am thankful for so much this Thanksgiving!
My Grandma (one of my best friends) is battling stage 4 lung cancer. I hate to say it, but I think this will be her last Thanksgiving with us. Although I'm devastated with what the outcome will be, I can't help but be thankful that I had time to say the things I needed to say and tell her how loved she is and always will be. So This Thanksgiving Family is definitely something to be thankful for.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! <3
