Perspective

Last night when I finally went to bed I was in a foul mood.  You know the kind that comes when you've been working on something and nothing is going right.  But thankfully something happened during the night.  Don't know if it was all the crazy dreams I had or what, but I woke up today with a fresh new perspective.  Everything started taking shape and I absolutely love what I've made.

I think taking a step back is vital for the creative process...a nice drive, a crisp afternoon walk, a hot bath etc... can do wonders for your perspective and that's what I've been needing.

So today I put on my cute little hat and scarf...applied some much needed make-up and we went for a drive.  Have I ever told you I have a thing for hats and scarves??  One day I'll have to show you my collection;)

If you look close you can see the girls tormenting each other in the back seat.  Welcome to my world:)  Interject me yelling...KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF and you know exactly what it's like to be in our car at any given moment.

We drove to Panera Bread for a late lunch.  I am IN LOVE with these pumpkin cut out sugar cookies.  They sing sweet melodies to me.  Seriously my eyes roll to the back of my head and I have sugar stuck to my lips and I don't care because I luv them soooo much!!!!  But you know sugar makes you fat.  It's 100% the truth.  'Nough said!

I thought I'd throw these in of Honey because it's close to Halloween and all.  He's very intense...even when he's trying to get a bug off the windshield.  Can't decide if I should laugh hysterically or run screaming.  Enjoy!

Have a blessed day.

  6. Loved this post. The kids razzing eaching other... I remember that (being the kid, on both sides of the razzing fence). I also remember when I was married to my ex and was the primary caretaker of the kids and was constantly saying things like, "Keep your hands to yourself!" Eeeeks. Your Honey is always hilarious. He does know you post these online, doesn't he? He always makes the goofiest faces so I had to check... LOL.

  11. That picture of your chicks cracks me up! I remember road trips with my brother where we drew the imaginary line down the middle of the back seat - of course that was way before car seats so we were all over the place. I cannot imagine how my mother did it. :-)

Glad you got your mojo back with the new day. I can't wait to see what you've been working on.

  12. Hi Becky! That is such a good photo of you...very cute hat.

That cookie looks mighty tasty. Have you ever had the chocolate cookies at Panera? One word...YUM. You know what I always think about when I eat sugar, besides the fact that it is making me fat? That it is giving me wrinkes...nice.

  14. Hi Becky!!

I totally agree with you. Sometimes I get so aggitated when making new cushion designs because they're not going right!!

I make myself take an hours break...step away from the situation! lol

I did a blog post on perspective but a little different to yours...check it out if you get time : )

  15. Squeegie murderer or nice husband? That's right, everything needs proper perspective. Especially art work. If you work on it too much, it flops just like whipped cream. Very funny photos.

  16. Nothing like a much needed quick change in perspective -- and just getting away for a little bit always seems to help me too. Oh and those fat loaded sugar cookies would probably help a little too ;) Yum! Now, I'm hungry. :)

  17. Those pics of your Honey are hilarious!!!!! And you look so cute in a hat-I can't wear one at all.

    Mmmm, a nice long walk.....

Sometimes I have to completely walk away from something, even for a long while, before I can come back to it with perspective. I'm glad it worked out for you.

I love that pic of the cows on the hillside with all the trees.

  35. Good morning!
    I disconnected from
    my computer this weekend
to work on a big project
inspired by YOU ~ More later
    on that! I'd wear hats
if they looked cute on me,
but alas, it's a sad sight.
    Yours are adorable. I think
it's great how your hubs always
looks like he is having such
fun ~ when I know that he has
    a pretty intense job M-F!!
Glad you were all able to have
    a fun weekend!
    xx Suzanne

  37. Okay Becky, you look ADORABLE in that hat! I would look ridiculous in it, but I believe you were made to sport these cute coverings. Really, I think you should design some Becky hats and sell them. They would sell for sure with you as the model.
