Hunkering in

Honey was gone for most of the week.  He doesn't travel much thank heavens.  I'm kind of out of sorts when he does.  I lose all sense of time and stay up way too late.  I can't even begin to put a meal together.  It's just off.  Does that make sense?

Fergie has a routine at bedtime.  She goes limp and acts dead...hoping with all that's in her that we won't make her go sleep in her crate.  Isn't that mean?  She's crated!  We've just always done it that way.  Well this week while Honey was gone I decided to try and have her sleep with me.  I mean look at that face...how can you say no:)  I should have though.  It didn't go well.  She woke me up in the middle of the night and I had to put her up anyway.  But we gave it a shot.

Friday night we all hunkered in.  I had the girls help me whip up some waffles and scrambled eggs for dinner and then we cuddled on the couch and watched a movie.

We popped in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.  Remember that movie??  Oh my goodness.  It's so dumb.  But I found myself laughing out loud.  This grown man, weird grown man...acting like an immature kid.  It's just too funny.  Remember..."I know you are, but what am I?" and his creepy laugh.  I had to kind of explain it to the girls.  They were like mom...he's so weird

I'm like ummm...I know, but it's really funny

(painting I got done this week for Alicia)

I'm going to continue the hunkering in theme for this week.  I have a lot of stuff I'm working on.  Trying to restock my Etsy store for Christmas...praying for some wonderful creativity to flow all over me.   It should be fun, but challenging.  I have a way of getting distracted.  I think I have adult ADHD;)

Have a blessed day.

  2. My Honey works late and gets home around 10pm or so-nearly every night. I feel directionless....I sympathize.

Your doggies is sooooooo cute! I'm sorry it didn't work out but looks like you had a great time with the chicks. Waffles and eggs....mmmmm. I'd like some of that right now.

I adore the painting you did, it's great! Good luck with creative flow....and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  7. I do the EXACT same thing whenever David is away...it's like the house just isn't 'settled' if he's not there.

Our pup is quite the pampered princess 'round our parts and while she doesn't always sleep on the bed, she always manages to find a cozy spot in our room somewhere. :)

  9. I hate it when the Man has to leave town, it's so sad. Mine did a lot of that the first few years of our marriage. Thankfully I could go with him a lot, but not always. I'm so thankful he's had local work the past few years. I cherish it though, because you never know...
LOVE the new painting. It's beautiful. Praying you have some good artsy vibes flowing soon. :)

  10. You're not mean.
We have to lock our cat up in her very own bedroom at bedtime, because she turns into a wild eyed banshee at night.

Don't tell anybody, but I used to do the BEST Pee Wee Herman laugh!

  12. Pee Wee, really??? He freaked me out as a kid and it's worse now that I'm an adult. Have you watched any of the Mr. Bean movies? Now he's funny! Your kids would love him!

  15. Hi Becky, I totally get what you are saying when the husband is away! My husband is active duty Army and has done two tours in Iraq. First one he was gone 14 months, second one 12 months. I got into such a funk both times. Let my kids watch tv while we ate dinner( and I never do that), couldn't wait to crawl back into bed each night, did a alot of retail therapy!! Never want to do the single parent thing again, it's tough!
Love your blog, by the way. I'm a follower but this is my first time commenting. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

  16. Oh Pee-Wee scares me;) My hubby travels frequently for work and I miss him terribly when he's away...but the upside is, the girls & I get lots of "girl-time"...we've gotten pretty good at "hunkering in"!! P.S. One of my favorite things for dinner is breakfast:)

  17. Oh my gosh I Pee Wee Herman gives me the creeps! I did watch the movie though movie, it was like a train wreck and I couldn't look away! :) I am glad that you had a great time with the girls! We all need to hunker down and enjoy the things we have at hand!

Have a wonderful weekend! I will be joining you (at least in spirit) I have a craft show coming up next month and I am desperately trying to get the juices flowing!! Good luck to you and I love your new painting!!!

  22. I can so relate to being "off" when the hubby is out of town. Mine just started traveling again after being home most of the time for several years. When he is here, he's my signal when it's bedtime - when he's gone, I get so engrossed in my puttering that I don't even look up until 3AM! On the upside - hopefully you can get lots of work done. :-)

Love your latest painting - so cute!

  26. Hahahahaha, I remember that movie! It's so weird and so bad that you can't help laughing at it. The second one was even worse.
How fun having an all girls weekend!

  27. I hate it when my husband is gone, too...I could tell the same story. Late, late nights and strange meals (although your breakfast for dinner sounds great. That's what we had tonight, and he was home!).
I laughed when I saw PeeWee's Big Adventure. Yes, what a weird man. I totally loved that show when I was young, though. And when I saw the movie (many times, oh dear) I never watched the part with Large Marge. My friends convinced me it was soooo scary. Then when I finally saw it I was like,"That's what I have been not watching?!" It became a huge joke between us all. :) Thanks for the memory.
Glad your sweet family is together again! And I think hunkering down sounds just perfect as the weather begins to turn (although it was about 87 here yesterday...Dallas, you never know.).

  28. What a wonderful post Becky. It sounds as though you and the girls had a nice time despite the fact that your husband was out of town for a bit. I laughed right out loud after reading about your watching Pee Wee Herman. I do remember watching that movie and I do remember laughing hard. I love what I call stupid humor. And that is what Pee Wee was to me. I will have to watch it again. :)

  34. How funny! I have that same quilt (in the Fergie picture)! It was in our guest bedroom, but now that we moved and downsized from a king to a queen, it's in our master bedroom. I love it.

  37. I feel the same way when the hubby is gone. Up way too late...not sure why or what I am doing, I don't have a clue what to make for dinner and I just want to stay at home!

Good luck with the shop...I should be doing the same, but I am in a major funk with it.

Jury Duty is almost over...hopefully I will be done by the weekend!

  38. Kind of embarrassing to admit, but "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" is probably my favorite movie (for the sheer reason that it's over-the-top silly, easy to watch, and well, there's Pee-Wee). Certainly not for any intellectual value.

And thank you for your comment on my blog. Hearing from you is like hearing from a rockstar. I love your work! :)
