Brace yourselves...I feel a rant coming on;) Am I the only one who has extreme trouble with technology?? See this little gadget in my hand? This is the fourth phone I've had since AUGUST!!!!! I mean really doesn't that seem a little much?? I've had this one for about 3 weeks now and it's not working. I thought at first it was just a Blackberry thing. My first two Blackberry phones cursors didn't work and then my last one just went bonkers while I was out in Seattle and wouldn't do anything. Now my new fancy touch screen phone is doing the same thing. It just scans and scans for a signal. It wouldn't be so bad if we didn't always have to go to Best Buy for service. Three weeks ago I spent 4+ hours in there. LUCKILY we purchased the insurance plans so they are all free! My head would really spin if I had to pay for all this crappy technology. I'm thinking that someone should pay me to be a product tester. If it can last a month with me than it's good to go. Anyway just had to get that off my chest. This has to be the lamest post ever:( Guess I know what I'll be wasting my day doing...ugh!
Have a blessed day.

That is so annoying! We have food luck with cell phones for some reason. They last forever : ) Have a good week even if it starts with a trip to Best Buy : (
ReplyDeletei'm liking the red backdrop!!!
ReplyDeletei know what the problem is... you should have just gone with an iphone!!!
: )
hope you get it fixed real quick and that best buy is good to you.
I just want the old cell phone that looks like a brick. No camera, no apps, no internet, no games, JUST LET ME CALL SOMEONE! Is it too much to ask to want to make a phone call for crying out loud. See, now you've done it, I'm ranting too.
ReplyDeleteI don't "do" technology -- like this anyway! I still have a cell phone I've had since 2003!! It's a Nokia and it works. No, I don't have a touch screen or a phone in it and I can't access the web..but I can make and receive phone calls and send and receive texts. It's enough for me. My sons have Blackberry devices. So far they've been "lucky", though the older one had to replace his last month -- the roller ball thingy stopped working. The contract was ALMOST up and so he got a new one...but it's not really "new" -- it's refurbished. So maybe what you are getting as "new" devices are really refurbished...and that could be part of the problem.
ReplyDeleteAs for Best Busy...UGH!! For starters, I can't stand the "smell" of the store as soon as you walk in so I avoid that one as much as possible.
gee...I think your rant, turned into my rant too!!! :)
Sorry you're having issues...hope you get it resolved!
yuck, yuck, yuck!! i CANNOT stand stuff like this...i just think stuff should work the way it's supposed to...i thought fancy phones, etc. were meant to make life easier. i agree, they do NOT! good luck! maybe it'll go super quick and easy today? maybe? :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so weird, Becky! I have Verizon and have the Droid X. I never have a problem with service or signal. I can be cruising through the middle of no where on my junking jaunts and still call anyone. Hmmm...make sure Best Buy is not giving you a refurbished phone. I have heard that "secondary" dealers (meaning you did not buy straight from Verizon) sometimes pass off returned phones they have fixed as new ones. Just a thought...cuz that is a whole lotta phones since August!
ReplyDeleteMary
yes. see my post here:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mydisgruntledlife.com/2011/03/our-stuff-disconnecting-us.html
i feel your pain. mine now, turns itself off. all. the. time. and it also will randomly download every message from the past 8 months on a whim. crapola is good. last week my phrase was *crappy craptastic*. whatever works. i'm missing the days of tin cans and string. hello, operator? (i'm really not THAT old;))
ReplyDeleteIsn't a pain when our "modern conveniences" turn into major inconveniences!! So sorry for your phone woes...hope it gets resolved quickly;)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Lovin' the new background:)
Gotta say... I LOVE my iPhone. It is the best. I LOVE Face Time. And, it's connected to the Verizon network. Just sayin'
ReplyDeleteAfter using the same tv from 1991 we bought an $800 tv a little over a year ago. Yeah, great. As of three days ago, we only hear sound. The next day the microwave broke and the remote on our old tv broke. NEXT!!!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya Becky. I've been feeling the same way about my computer problems lately. You know? Like when you want to smash the thing.
ReplyDeleteDo you think the signal problem has anything to do with where you live? My cousin and his wife live in the Chaska/Carver area and they've made comments about not being able to get a good signal. I'm surprised you're having problems through since it's Verizon, I have that too and have always had good luck.
Tricia
:) Haha! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too....
I told my husband to go get me a NORMAL, simple phone this last time...well, NO!, he came back with a Droid! It's not a normal, simple phone. I'm trying to stick with it though...
Hope you have happy phone days ahead!
I think I'll just stick with my ANCIENT flip-phone! (I'm SO behind the times. Ha ha!)
ReplyDeleteThere are days when I want to go back to the early 90's when we all got along just fine with our lan lines and regular snail mail... technology is a blessing but also a curse at the same time. I have a fancy touch screen phone too. I like it, but there are times when I just want to purposefully flush it down the toilet. Ha. Hope you get your phone troubles get sorted out.
ReplyDeleteI love the title of this post. Sorry about the phone. Seriously, you need an iPhone. It is the BEST thing EVER. I am sort of in love with mine.
ReplyDeletei know exactly how you feel.... techno stuff drives me crazy when it doesn't work right! yep, feel your pain! sending postive vibes that all gets worked out fast!!! :) and i must add that i LOVE your treasure huntint finds!!! too fabulous and seriously jealous,
ReplyDeletexo,
LuLu
That is super sucky...hense why we have steared clear of cell phones - I too have NO luck with such devices!!! Seriously! Hope it all works out for you!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new background!! *heart* :)
my phone is still just a phone; only calls people and that's it. :) (come back to the dark ages...we have lower blood pressure! ha.)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I feel ya. I have these same problems with cell phone service in general. Makes my blood boil. Hubby had an iphone and loved it, then we switched providers and all of these new phones are too smart for their own good. The old bar and flip phones did so much better!
ReplyDelete(I think the red looks fab, and it appears to be a hit!) ;)
Sometimes I really wonder if my lack of tech knowledge is holding me back. lol I am clueless! I need a new phone so bad but have no idea what to get. My husband is like "Just go buy something" and I'm like "Can you just buy it for me???" ugh. You're in good company. Well, at least you're in MY company. lol
ReplyDeleteyep, technology is great when it works but a huuuuge pain when it doesn't!
ReplyDeletei'm with shannan - i've got a really 'dumb' phone and our monitor is also quite dated so the screen isn't wide enough to see the fab red background everyone is raving about! :)
hope you get it figured out soon - it really is frustrating when things are not working as they 'should' (especially when you're paying for them!)
can be so frustrating my laptop gets me all the time!! hope it all gets worked out soon. hugs, susan
ReplyDeleteGet an iPhone - you will never go back to another phone again :)
ReplyDeleteAnd wonder why you didn't get one sooner!
Your post is not lame . . . but phones that do not work are lame!
ReplyDeleteFondly,
Glenda
That stinks.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOUR red and polka dots!!! I told you it was just what you needed!! I'm to glad you let me boss you around. LOL
Sorry I never got the chance to call you back today... kid craziness and then straight to dance where I ran into a friend and then straight home for dinner and I'm just now breathing... getting kids into bed in a minute... why cant you live next door??? WHY!?
HOPE it all
ReplyDeleteworked out.
I love my new
HTC droid!!!
Even get great
service in PS.
It rained here,
today, so you
didn't miss much!
But I love being
with my folks : )

Becky, sorry to hear about your phone. I have a Droid x AKA a smart phone. I have had it for about 5 months and have had no problems with it until recently. A few days ago I tried to talk with my husband. But I had no sound. He could hear me but I could not hear him. I could text him though. Anyway, I went to Verizon and all the tech dude did was take my battery out and put it back in and voila it was all fixed.I left with my phone working but I aso left feeling like that should not have happened. Last night my smart phone turned it self off (rebooted)and then came back on. Uhm.....not liking that at all. So if one more thing goes wrong then I will be getting a new hone. If I were having an emergency and my phone was to have an issue what then? I am up on all of the new tech things but I am old and I am beginning to think that I should go back to the old way of thinking. If I want a cell phone then *just* get a cell phone. If I want a computer on the run then bring my laptop, Itouch or IPad. I guess what I am saying is I still do not believe that one thing can do it all. So the next time my contract is up I am going back to just a cell phone no bells and whistles and a smaller bill each month.
ReplyDeleteGood luck tomorrow. Can't wait to hear how you make out at Best Buy. :)
Mary
four? since august? holy cow!!
ReplyDeletegood luck. don't you just hate it when technology lets us down....and the inconvenience.ugh!
technology can be a real bummer sometimes. 4 phones...that is some bad phone luck. i mailed your journal to you yesterday. sorry it took so long. had to add some last minute touches and time got away from me. as usual. have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for confirming that I am fine with my basic, boring cell phone. By the way...is that the weather where you are/ Brrrr.....
ReplyDeleteWe bought the pay as you go Samung Smart phones from Target this Christmas... and other than getting the Virgin Moblie folks to set up the stupid phone (7 days!!)... we have had NO headaches at all... Best Buy sells them too... they are android... full screen with a keyboard flip out... you can see I am really techy!! ha ha! Technology is so frustrating... if I hadn't married a techy I would be LOST... so lost! anyway... you are probably stuck in a contract.. but the pay as you go... no contract phones are such a steal!! $40 for unlimited internet, unlimited texting, a camera and 1200 (20 hours) of talk time... if you aren't stuck in a contract ... it is SO worth looking into ! Target baby!!
ReplyDeleteOh that would upset me too! My daughter dropped her new phone by accident into the toilet and it was ruined and she did not have insurance on it.
ReplyDeleteSo good for you that you insured yours.
Oh I like the red and black on your blog background Becky. It says HAPPY is here!
Hey I'm going over to your etsy shop and buying the cuff you made for me tonight.
♥Lee Ann
Bummer about your phone, but I just had to thank you for making me laugh with your title. Sometimes crapola is just the right word!
ReplyDeleteI just learned that I was in your neck of the woods last week {I think!}. MN?!?! My first time up there!
Hope you have a good rest of the week!
Linsey
I got a new phone for Christmas and I have barely played with it! I check emails and facebook sometimes the weather and that's it! I know there is so much more I could do with it but I am not a techi and have no patience for some things. I hope your is working good again...
