This was our hotel room. Our home away from home for a few days. It was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. I didn't realize the room was going to be so big. We even had a full kitchen. The lights didn't work in it, but we had one:)

Honey had full days of seminars to attend and then a speech to present later in the week, so I was on my own for most of the time. It was really nice to relax, but it was also kind of lonely.
After just getting back from Hawaii it was hard not to compare the two. Hawaii was definitely more my speed. I'm a country girl and the Island vibe just fit my pace a little more. Miami is very urban, global and diverse. Not exactly my style, but it was still fun to see. I love to people watch and I really don't think you can find better people watching anywhere else.
I got a lot of reading in. Some friends had mentioned how good this book was, so I read almost the whole thing while I was gone. The Help by Kathryn Stockett...a very good read.
I was so lazy this week. Not sure what came over me, but I completely trashed the hotel room. I was a super slob. When my clothes came off...that's where they stayed;) There were little "Becky piles" all over the place. It was nice to be lazy, but I even got on my own nerves. How does that happen??
Have a blessed day.

Welcome home :)
ReplyDeleteI totally get what you mean about Miami--I'm not a big city girl so I get the island and Miami was just overwhelming to me. So glad you could have a space to just slobify though ;) Those times are SO needed!
I've missed you! So nice to have you back. Enjoy your time with your parents. I'm sure they will enjoy this time with you too.
ReplyDeleteTell me more about what's going in your salsa garden?????
Lee Ann
Welcome back! Can't wait to hear about the trip :)
ReplyDeleteNo place like home (except maybe Hawaii!) It does look pretty there though, I have never been to Florida. And it's good to be lazy when on vacation and you don't have to always be setting the example for the kids! Have a good week...come say hi :D
ReplyDeleteThat Dorothy definitely knew what she was talking about. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWelcome home!
Welcome home, Becky!

Welcome home! Home sweet home... :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week with your parents.
Welcome back! I just got back in town on Saturday, and I have to agree. There is NO place like home, no matter how much fun you have. ;)
ReplyDeleteyour back! the pictures look so beautiful! I wish you're back meant you were home in seattle! I know exactly what you mean about where you live being more your speed! exactly!
ReplyDeletewhat do you mean... you're not into hip hop dancing all night at beachside nightclubs?!? : ) every mom deserves to be a slob once in a while! glad you had so much time to relax. can't wait to hear and see more! have fun with the folks!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I'm with you urban life is not my style either. I do the same thing in hotels , and I also get on my own nerves! ( :
ReplyDeleteHave a pretty day!
Kristin
Yeah...I'll get heat for this...but even Floridians don't like Miami that much. I remember hearing the same thing when I lived in Paris..."French people don't even like Parisians". But...when you find the hidden, old Miami secrets and places...it's like paradise. Without the skyscrapers.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, salsa garden? Nice!
ReplyDeleteHa, lazy.
Gosh, I know what you mean about getting on your own nerves...slobbiness doesn't exactly sit well with me either:)
Looks like a lovely time!
Oooh! The Help is on my list. Happy to have you back, Becks! Home in the Summertime is THE place to be. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're back safe and sound, honey! And see? I totally DIDN'T hijack your blog. :) (Grin)
ReplyDeleteI read that book the other day! It wasn't at all what I thought it would be though. (but it was good) I just got done reading Best Friend's Forever. I LOVED it. Just a great light Summery read. Have you ever checked out our bookclub blog? (I just made it look supercool if I do say so myself... LOL)
We had our first open house today, and one guy stayed here for like, 40 minutes, and he even brought his realtor.... Oh girl... this could be the one... could be!! You just never know!
I can't wait to show you the house. Have I sent you the link? If I haven't I need to. You're going to just die! Is got so much potential.
Okay let's talk this week!!
Love ya to pieces

It is so nice to have you back home. Your photos were wonderful to look at. I have no desire to go to Florida but I enjoyed looking at your beach pictures. Your room looked like a wonderful room. I'm glad that you had time to relax. :)

Welcome home! So glad you're back...can't wait to hear more about Miami{never been to that part of Florida} Enjoy the time with your folks:)
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you are back and had a good time ~ even if it was different from your family trip. I missed you and cannot wait to see more of Miami!!
ReplyDeleteHi! Just found you from hopping around :) Love your blog title! Have a great week :o)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and you so deserve being messy! hugs from conroe, tx!
ReplyDeletei think one of the best things about traveling is coming home. they go hand in hand. i would love to visit florida someday, but hawaii will always be my favorite beach vacation spot!
ReplyDeletebtw, the help is one of my new favorite books!
Florida is a very versatile state. You might like one of the sleepy little beach towns a lot better. But what a head start you have on a great tan!!
ReplyDeletehi! i feel bad that i have left you a comment until today. i have been reading your blogs faithfully for months now. i also ordered your shine necklace. by the way, i treasure it so much! the day it came in the mail i didn't even take it out of the cute pouch it came in. i just held in in my hand all church service. (opend the box on sunday). it was so special for my virtual world to become a little more real. anyway, back to the point...and so you don't think me too wierd...the reason i am commenting...is your salsa garden comment....i also do a salsa garden. i didn't know anyone else did that! when people ask me what i grow in my garden, i tell them "i just have a salsa garden". so anyway interesting...thanks for what you have added to my life. there are other posts that have touched me deeply. just thought i would finally tell you that.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back sweet girl!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to just let things go and be a little lazy sometimes, but I am the same way...it starts to annoy me! :)
I just bought a book by John Maxwell about putting your dreams to the test...I can't wait to read it!
xo,
Adrienne
Welcome home!!! I REALLY missed you too!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!

BECKY: Welcome back! I was out of town this weekend, so am madly dashing around for "visits" before heading out to yoga and errands and MY LIFE! I have to agree with you, I LOVE Hawaii and while I also enjoy certain parts of Florida, I didn't have the urge to move to Miami after a brief stay in South Beach. I'm also from your home state and while I liked trying on the South Beach vibe, it definitely wasn't ME. The last business trip that I tagged along with Mr. Privet on was to ROME, can you imagine? Before that it had been San Francisco. The good old days before the economy tanked. This year it was Miami {yep!} but I decided to stay home with the kid-os instead. Happy Monday and hope you are all caught up from being gone. I'm not and it was only 36 hours!

to get on your own nerves...
ReplyDeleteIt's possible...
I've done that "with me" before, but never put it into as many words. Welcome home!!
Sooooo missed you! I love the t-shirt you were wearing in that first pic. I think I've seen you wear it in another pic recently - you'll have to share where you got it! It's good to be able to be lazy and just lay around a little - glad you were able to get a little break!
ReplyDeleteOh a lazy vacation in the sun! What a blessing....
ReplyDeleteYou'll treasure the memories.
Cheyenne

ReplyDeleteHi! Love your blog!!
ReplyDeleteIm one of the faces following you..lol
So nice to meet you!!!
Deborah :)
I was in FL once ~ Jacksonville ~ smaller town feel ~ fun history~ Miami is not exactly somewhere I want to visit ~ I can see how people watching there would be fun though!! I would love to spend time on more remote beaches in FL one day again ! =) Hawaii however ~ I need many many extended vacations there ~ many. =)
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Miami but I know I'll love it. The fast paced beach environment is always funny to me... like an oxymoron.
ReplyDeleteOh Becky.... I'm sorry you did not enjoy south Florida so much....I really do love it here. So much to see and do...And very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou just needed me to take you around and show you the great places...
