It's Christmas...I wasn't going to blog for a while, but I couldn't wait. I'm sitting here all warm and snug. The kids are playing in the background. It's been the perfect day...warm home, good food, the love of my family.
Life as I know it is beyond good, but for many this day represents pain. For many it's a reminder of loss.
I just read about my blogging friend Edie whose home was destroyed this week by fire. So thankful they were all spared, but my heart aches for them. If you have a minute please lift them up in prayer. I really can't even imagine what that's like...being homeless and at Christmas.
Makes me all the more grateful, more aware of this special day...these precious moments in time.
Of His mercy and grace.
Hope you had a day filled with more than your heart could take.

Lovely post, in Australia its boxing day. Hope the rest of your Christmas is gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteYou are so stinkin cute! And your lovely family. Oh my.
ReplyDeleteThere was a family here, who too lost the home in a fire. She was known for doing good works everywhere she went. I guess there has been a huge outpouring of love to them. I read the story in the paper and do not know them.

This year wasn't as difficult as last year for me, but the holidays are not easy.
It's nice to hear that you had such a wonderful Christmas.
Love the shots at church Becky ~ I think the candlelight service is one of my favorite parts of the Christmas celebrations. My heart goes out to your friend ~ that would be hard any time of the year but it seems to be magnified over the Christmas season. I agree with Carissa ~ your pictures are fantastic! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful family!! It looks like you had a WONDERFUL holiday and a merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteI'm sad for Edie and her family; I experienced this type of loss with my family when I was 17. I am praying and believing, God will make all things new... Your post is touching.

Oh sweet edie - i can't imagine, either - what an amazing example of the Holy Spirit she is. No doubt hearts will come to know the Lord because of her & through this time.
ReplyDeleteI loved your Christmas posts. Loved seeing your big chick in her red Christmas dress - my daughter wore that for Christmas dinner, too ;)
Loved the candlelight service photos - our candles were outside in a circle outside our church - with the cold biting at our noses and cheeks - singing silent night. It was magical!
So thankful for His mercy and for the opportunity to celebrate another Christmas with family.
Christmas Eve church was lovely for us, as well. Hallelujah, God is with us.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous post, sweetie.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Big Chick's bangs!
Our internet here has
been spotty, so I've been
reading and taking long
walks and recharging....
Hope your holiday break
is filled with all those
things that you love.
See you in 2011 : )

ReplyDeleteSaying a prayer for your friend right now!! Folks in our church have experienced fires recently... hard stuff! The experience has left them in awe and wonder of God's love ...despite the loss... little blessings!
ps I love your snowmen... are they Pier 1 babies?? ;)
Your photos, as usual, are just gorgeous, as are you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI was happy to be able to spend time with my brother, my nephew, their wives and my new niece. A miracle (almost) with all our crazy work schedules.
I'm terribly sorry about your friend and am saying a prayer for her....
This was so perfectly written. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave a pretty day Becky,
Kristin
I couldn't believe when I read about the fire..December 23rd my husband's parents home was burned down too. And my post about it has candles in church as your post does. Was Edie's the other Red Wing fire? It will be hard for awhile but the blessings God keeps surrounding them with is amazing. I will make sure to pray for your friend too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas back atcha. Can't wait to hear who wins tomorrow. Hoping...
ReplyDeleteI am SO enjoying all of your photos with this new camera of yours :) You've captured your Christmas just beautifully. I must know what it is in your first picture...it looks like gold glitter? Is it just lighting? Whatever it is, it's a stunning photo...the pics of the fam...and the cute little snowmen too. All of it just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBy the way....I just want to say that you KNOW you are hooked on someone's blog, when you break out in a nervous sweat when you can't access it! I was on earlier, and then clicked on a post and voila..page error and nothing! I kept refreshing and reopening and still nothing. Yes...I was just short of hives because of this...but fear not! I left the computer and returned a couple hours later and thankfully have been able to access you again. :) haha. yeah. I'm addicted :)
Hi Becky. I am feeling like I am the only one who did not know Edie. But I am so sorry for her loss. It does make you feel grateful. Loving your bangs. You look fabulous!
