I came home last night after visiting with a friend and found my Honey teary eyed sitting by his computer. He told me he just had a spiritual experience and proceeded to tell me about a video he'd watched. My husband loves music. It really speaks to him. Lately he's been listening a lot to Brian Welch. The music is very very dark and almost scary. I don't really get it, but the lyrics are amazing and it ministers to my husband. To each their own.
Brian Welch used to be in the hard rock band called Korn. He's covered in tattoos and is frightening to look at. In the video he gives his testimony and shares that even though he was rich, successful and seemed to have it all his life was empty. He was a pumped up with pride and became a meth junkie. The mother of his child overdosed on drugs and he knew that was his fate too. It was just an honest story of a very "somewhat unreachable" soul. What gripped my heart is that his realtor felt that he was supposed to share a scripture with him. Matthew 11:28... Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. God took that one scripture and the obedience of that man to win his soul.
BRIAN HEAD WELCH - I AM SECOND from BRIAN HEAD WELCH on Vimeo.
I really don't know who I'm writing this to. Scary tattoo man is not my usual audience, but for some reason God put his testimony on my heart to share. So if you are out there and you have a brother, friend, husband, co-worker, cousin etc...that needs Jesus and seems completely unreachable...this is for you. Be obedient, like that realtor, and share what God has put on your heart.
Have a blessed day.

...gettin' ready to watch the video, brb...
ReplyDeleteWow, just watched the video and put it on my facebook wall. Thanks for posting this...funny, I have Kendall Payne on my blog for today! Hmmm, Daddy is getting the word out!
ReplyDeleteThat video is powerful. Thanks for sharing. I've marked that verse in my head just in case. :)
ReplyDeleteI wrote a blog a while back called Compassion Versus Empathy. I think that the more you go through, the more empathetic you become. The bigger your story gets. The more people you can reach. In other words, if you can survive the horror, you can be the brightest light.
ReplyDeleteHey Becky,
ReplyDeleteI gave you an award! Come and get it! I hope you have a great day!

Hey there,
ReplyDeleteI've been a member of I Am Second for a while now... every time I wear the t-shirt out and about I get all kinds of questions about it (the point....) ;)
I have considered writing/taping my testimony, but .... not yet. :)
I have a local chapter here in my city and I have posted some of the testimonies on my FB page.
The one you're referring to here was actually shown in our church one Sunday (and I couldn't help but wonder what some of our senior saints were thinking!!). :)
I AM SECOND is amazing -- it shows that ANYONE and EVERYONE needs the saving grace of Christ.
I am Ruth. And I am second...
Thank you so much for sharing this. I know someone that I plan on sharing this with...I think this might be just the thing, just the tool to reach this particular individual.
ReplyDeleteAgain, thank you Becky, for being so obedient to the Spirit. :-)
Hugs,
Anne
Oh, AWESOME!!!! I heard Brian's testimony a few years ago on Life Today with James and Betty Robison. Seriously, my husband and I could NOT watch it WITHOUT crying!!!! AMAZING what God is doing in this man's life!!!! (Has your husband read the book? It's incredible.)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get the music to play...but that is a wonderful story, Becky! I didn't know that about the guy from Korn. : )
ReplyDeleteGod bless ya'll!!!

This is a true transformation. You, my sweet friend, were obedient in posting in this and God will use it to speak to someone's heart. It spoke to mine and I am still trembling over the Power of Christ in the life of one who believes. I loved this!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome testimony of a man being obedient to share God with someone else. I wonder how many times I have missed the perfect opportunity that God puts before me to share with someone else who needs HIM?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder to do a check-up and thanks Becky for sharing this in your post today.
Hugs to you my friend!

Thanks for sharing such a powerful testamony about Brian, but also your own. Sometimes it isn't always easy putting what you personally believe out there. Your honesty and faith will be an encouragement to others!

Powerful.
ReplyDeleteI love you.

Who ever thought Brian Welch would be such an awesome witness of God's love?!! Thank you for sharing this. Powerful!
ReplyDeletethis really is an amazing testimony. i will share it with
ReplyDeletemy grown up kids. thank you.
AMAZING...love this testimony and the power of words through someone who was hurting and looking for love. My mom worked in a deli for many years and lots of young people would come into the deli and gravitate toward her, she heard so many stories such as this, from guys you wouldn't give a second look at on the street, tattoo's, crazy hair, piercings, and for some reason they all opened up to my mom and we have learned so many lessons from people we would have never thought to stop and chat with, I suppose being that I have a brother who was a drug addict living a life like this we empathize so much with stories like this...just makes you realize that there is something, someone bigger out there ready to help you, even when the world has turned their head away from you! ok, done now, sorry for the novella, thanks for sharing this with us, love ya!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm speechless. His love amazes me.

Okay so I guess I'm supposed to pay attention to that verse. I just came across it twice in the last five minutes in two completely different places. Hmmm.
ReplyDeletehave you watched any of the other "i am second" video clips? they are powerful!
ReplyDeleteThat was a good video, I know first hand, you can't judge a person on how they look on the outside. I have never heard of him before and I really I hope he stays with Christ.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and have a good weekend!
Becky, this is such a powerful post and the verse is so true and it is so great that you help pass the word of God on to others.

PS - Lissa told me how you and she are such kindred spirits, and she gets to visit you soon! Lucky duck. I was so excited to spend just a few hours with her ... Hope to meet YOU soon, someday!!! xoxoxo
awesome...i'll be passing this along!
ReplyDeleteBecky, thank you for sharing this. I think too often we put limits on God's power. We decide that a person "is not worth our time." That they are "too far gone." How wrong we are, praise God for that realtor who did not let stereo types get in his way. I pray that we can all step out of our comfort zone and share the gospel with those who need it most.
ReplyDeletei finally had a chance to sit down and watch this and all I can say is God is so good!
