When Little Chick turned six we told her she could get her ears pierced. She wasn't ready. She said maybe when she was seven she'd try. Well something changed her mind and all of a sudden she was more than ready. She pestered and reminded until we finally got her there:)
A LOT!
Just another milestone. Another step in her growing up. Even now...knots in my stomach...feeling a little light headed:)
Have a blessed day.

Aww, big step Little Chick! Your earrings are soo pretty! Big step for mama, too. :) Way to go!
ReplyDeleteAw. Poor baby, but @ the same time...how exciting! I know! Those milestones are killers for us moms that arent ready for it. Every time I look at my boys theyre bigger and accomplishing more!! **Sigh** Theyre growing up WAAAY too fast!!
ReplyDeleteYou will be so proud of yourself, Little Chick.
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't wait like I did until I was 58!
You have darlin' sparklin' ears!
Aww, congratulations little chick. I remember when my little girl wanted her ear pierced. She begged us for months and we finally let her do it. She didn't cry one bit (she MUST have a high pain tolerance or wanted it real bad).
ReplyDeleteShe was so proud of herself. They grow up so fast.

Ahhh ~ she is so sweet! What a great milestone for her. Those tears break my heart ~ but look at that smile... :o)
ReplyDeleteSweet post! We offered to let Mary Catherine pierce her ears at age 5, but she too declined. We didn't push it. (Most of my friends and cousins pierce their babies' ears...*shudder*) We too figured this is a right of passage that she will accept when she's ready.
ReplyDeleteShe turns 6 in August and will be entering kindergarten. She casually brought it up the other day...but is still hesitant.
Perhaps when she sees her classmates she will become braver? LOL
Bless her heart. But at least you got a smile after. :) Sweet post!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute story. I can still remember when I got my ears pierced at 5...and it was in the doctor's office back then. I hope she loves the outcome after all of the tears.
ReplyDeleteMy girls just asked if they could get theirs done...a little friend who is 5 has hers done, so now, they think they need earrings too...I don't think I will give in until at least 5!
ah, the pain we go through to look beautiful!! :)
ReplyDeletetell her she looks way cool!!!!
Awwww, how brave of her! They are so cute are she looks beautiful! I remember when my daughter got hers pierced, I thought she was going to pass out! She turned sheet white. Of course then I felt awful. It is exciting and sad to watch our little ones take each step to being more 'grown up'.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet......I don't remember my piercing (not cause I'm old, ha-ha) but because I had mine done when I was about 3 months old.....Chick-a-dee is adorable with her new pierced ears!
ReplyDeletei think the loudest screams i've ever heard from my girls was when they got their ears pierced!
ReplyDeleteshe is too cute, big girl :)
I am laughing out loud but only because I so understand! I did this 6 times and everyone of them cried. It is quite the thing for mom and daughter but lunch and some shopping after and maybe a movie even usually fixed it! LOL
ReplyDeleteoh happy day for little chick! I think little girls look so cute in earrings!
ReplyDeleteAw, so precious... Hope she's happier now! :)
ReplyDeleteDaddy on the spur of the moment when driving past Claire's one day asked Bella, thinking she'd say no. She said yes, and bo-yah, there we were with pierced ears suddenly! :)
oh those tears!!
ReplyDeletei remember getting my ears pierced.
it IS a milestone!
we all want to grow up so fast...and then get young again :)
Awww, sweet little chick is growing up! She looks so happy now. The smile makes it all worth it!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! It makes me glad that I had Ava's pierced when she was 3 months old. Of course it was more of a traditional family thing in her case, as everyone in Adrain's huge family did that (Maybe it's a French Canadian thing?) but I'm still really glad I didn't have to see the big tears!
ReplyDeleteYour little darling looks so cute with them!
Oooo yes, I do remember the first ear piercing! But, the end result is cuteness!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day :)
Stephanie
oh that photo of her crying, those are huge crocodile tears, but what a milestone, I remember getting my ears peirced too, it HURT! big steps!
ReplyDeleteMy Maddy cried for a few seconds and then the excitement of having earrings kicked in. I could never have pierced her ears as a baby...I think it would have killed ME:-)
ReplyDeleteBecky, can you believe that MY chick just got hers pierced a few weeks ago??? She wasn't ready until this year and then came downstairs on a Sunday and said, "How about today?" So off we went to Claire's, me with my camera in tow and I recorded the whole event on film! No tears, here, though, even though the gun-thingy didn't completely pierce the first ear ~ OUCH! She kept staring at her ears for days, big smile on her face. It is a right of passage, now matter the age : ) !!! Hope Little Chick is still happy that she made the big decision.....She looks darling! xx Suzanne
ReplyDeleteShe is so sweet! Thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteOh how fun, although the pain isn't fun. Layla is asking me to get hers done. She is about to be 5. we are thinking about it. It will hurt me more than her I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteMy youngest daughter the same thing:) Tell your "little chick" I think she's so brave!
ReplyDeleteLip gloss is right around the corner! If it makes her feel any better, I was sixteen when I got mine pierced, and I almost cried. Then, they grew shut and I had to have them re-pierced. I waited until 2001...and I nearly cried again! Not on my high pain tolerance list...
ReplyDeleteAh, I think I almost starting crying for her! My daughter is 5 and she says she will never get them pierced. I'm hoping she doesn't change her mind for a while, I'm not ready. Glad yours got through it!
ReplyDeleteYay or little Chic. Her earings are so pretty. She looks like a sweet young lady. I love the photo of the two of you together. What a neat memory you have shared with one another.
ReplyDeleteMary
Oh, yay little Chic! That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHooray little Chic! So beautiful! I wonder when this day will come for my little girl :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad for her. I took Peyton Grace to get hers done to surprise her Mommy and she scream and went into such a tantrum I thought they would call de fax child services on me...we had to take the piercing gun piece home and pierce the other one in the car as she slept. :) Goal accomplished! So you see your daughter did wonderfully even with few tears! Glad for her. Have a beautiful-wonderful-July 4th!
ReplyDeleteI was seven and totally remember it. From tears to a great big grin. Girls!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you Little chick! It took me 20 years before I had enough braveness to get mine pierced! Woo Hoo for Little Chick!!!! and Woo Hoo for mommy being a great mommy!
ReplyDeleteAww such a sweet darlin'...but look how pretty she looks with those earrings!!
ReplyDeleteI still remember getting mine done and how exciting it was to buy new earrings!!!
I remember I bought a pair of red hoops and loved them (I was a little older than your precious one).
Have a great weekend friend!

ReplyDeleteAwww so cute!! Such a big step for Big Chick : )
ReplyDeleteX Gemma X
Poor thing! It's amazing those shots are from the same day :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh...brave Lil' Chick! I didn't get my ears pierced until I was in the seventh grade. I remember like it was yesterday...riding down the Nordstrom elevator trying not to keel over after it was done. I felt so dizzy. I still have my ears pierced just once. I don't know how others do more!
ReplyDeleteOuch!
Congratulations!
: )
