Sudden loss

My dear friend Marylynn's mom passed away yesterday. She had surgery last week and developed an infection and suddenly died. I am in shock. When I talked to Marylynn yesterday she had no emotion whatsoever in her voice...she was numb. As I woke up this morning I put myself in her place, knowing that when she woke up it would all come back to her and she would realize that it wasn't a bad dream that it really happened.

I know the pain of grief first hand when my husband's dad passed away a little over a year ago. It's beyond excruciating. I'm calling on all my prayer warrior friends out there. Please lift her up right now. Let's agree together that God would pour his peace and comfort on her and her family, that despite this loss they would feel God's presence and love surround them giving them the strength to endure the days to come.

Thanks for listening.

  1. Giving you props for playing Coldplay. They're my favorite band and I reviewed seeing them in concert back in May.

  5. It is such a hard thing to loose a parent. I watched my husband bury his father unexpectedly and it was gut wrenching. I will be praying for you as well that you can help to "carry (her) burden."

  7. That's just heartbreaking. I haven't lost either of mine, but as distant as our relationships are, I'm sure I would still grieve quite a bit.

I hope she feels surrounded by love today as she processes this...

  11. I am so sorry about your friend's mom. Heartbreaking, for sure! I just received fairly good news about my dad and was so relieved, then read your post and realized that sooner or later, we will all face this. We do need to be there for each other and pray long and hard.

  12. My prayer is that God would make His presence felt in her heart and in the hearts of her family. I'll pray for comfort, and strength as they have to endure the pain of all the details that must be addressed through such an emotionally exhausting time.

God be glorified through this tragedy!

  19. Ooh, how awful for her...I just prayed. This seems to be happening more and more lately. This lady I used to work with was watching her granddaughter who was sick, and the lady got pneumonia and just passed. How awful and unexpected, you know??
