Ralph's Legacy

A year ago on March 11th my father-in-law passed away. I've talked about this before , but as I think about Ralph's life and death I can't help but remember what Jesus did for us. God allowed Jesus to suffer and ultimately die for me...for you. Watching the one you love suffer is the most excruciating pain and yet God felt that pain too...wow!! How deep His love is for us.

Ralph isn't in pain anymore. His death here started a new life in Heaven. His faith in Jesus Christ's resurrection gave us all the assurance and comfort to know that we will see him again someday. This was his legacy. Until then Ralph...we miss you so much.

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:

while we were still sinners Christ died for us.

Off to Grandma's House we go!

As you read this I will be off on a road trip adventure with my two chicks. Every year for Spring break we make a "break" for Home. Home being Central Illinois. I can't wait to see the miles and miles of flat open prairie land. It really is very beautiful.
My husband misses out because he is in the Tax profession and can't get away at this time of year...bummer:( Regardless, we load up the car with movies and snacks and just go, go, go for about 10-11 hours. The first time I made the trip alone (without him) it was terrifying. Now I find it a little exhilarating. I can do this.

We haven't been back since last July, so it is going to feel wonderful to see all things familiar. My favorite thing is walking into my parents house for the first time and smelling home. It is pure heaven:) I hope you have a blessed week.

Bump in the Road

My morning didn't really go as planned. I went to get an oil change and that turned into $735 for 4 new tires. I apparently drove over a pot hole or something, which is not hard to do in Minnesota in the Winter. Instead of replacing just the one they have to do all of them, because I have all wheel drive...UGH! I am not a very flexible person when it comes to a "bump" in the road. It takes me some time to readjust my attitude and get on board with the change in plan and pocketbook. Do any of you struggle with this too?

We are all trying to cut back and watch our expenses with the recession and then bam...the unexpected. To get back on track my prayer went something like this "Lord forgive me for my bad attitude and thank you for providing what I need, when I need it. I trust you in all things big and small." Amazing how much better I feel now:)

It's the little things

We all have them, little things in our homes that make us smile when we see them or use them on a daily basis. I thought I'd share a few of mine. I love this rug. I love what it says and of course the butterfly is a bonus:) Fergie
just had to get in on the action. It's an appropriate saying for her though don't you think!
This bowl does make me happy. I use it as often as I can. Isn't that funny?! The rug and bowl were made by Natural Life. I love everything they put out.

It's not just "things" that make me happy of course, it's the little every day stuff like my "little chick" who wants to play UNO 25 times a day. At first it was kind of annoying, but I have really started to cherish our UNO time. They are precious moments. What are your special little things throughout the day that make you smile?
