woulda, shoulda, coulda

I have a Mulan hangover.  It's like a bad dream replaying over and over in my mind.  Not that Mulan was bad, but the songs are unfortunately forever engraved in my mind.  It's haunting actually.  I was trying to go to sleep last night and all I could hear were children's voices singing "written in stone" in harmony.  Since I couldn't sleep I added up how many hours I spent at big chick's school last week...35 hours!  YES I SPENT 35 HOURS at night and on the weekend.  35 hours where I wasn't at home with my honey or my other child.  As magical as this play has been I'm really looking forward to it being over!  'Nough said;)

I had big plans on doing something fabulous for Valentine's day.  You know make something special...something homemade with love.  Didn't happen.  Life happened instead and that's okay.  My people know they are loved.  A store bought love note will have to do.

**If I would have had extra time, I might have whipped these up.

**Or made these cute little heart banners....somethin'...anything!

Or really outdone myself and made homemade Valentine's for little chick's entire 2nd grade class;)BUT WHO AM I KIDDING??!!  I probably wouldn't have done any of that.  The problem with Pinterest...and don't get me wrong...I adore Pinterest.  It's that sometimes it makes me feel like a complete and utter slug!  It's just a little overwhelming seeing all that creativity in one place, meanwhile I'm siting in my pj's, sipping coffee...dreaming the day away.

Well I'm not sure if it's the Mulan hangover, burnout or just the winter blah's, but I'm pretty okay with just being right now.  I'm not feeling overly inspired lately, but with that said...I'm actually partaking in a wonderful new thing.  This is going to sound ridiculous after what I just shared, but I'm going to be submitting posts for another blog about...

wait for it...

CREATIVITY!

I'll be one of 27 contributors to a new blog called Beautifully Rooted.

It's a daily gathering place, with lots of gifted women all sharing tidbits of their life, with the Lord as the common thread.  I just couldn't say no.  I mean initially I wanted to, but I really felt God told me to get off my lazy rear and move forward with what He's given me.  I'm praying this new blog venture will help me continue to tap into those gifts, and to share it with others who are struggling to get their creative juices flowing as well.  Anyhoo it should be great.  I'm super excited.  I'll be posting something "creative" every two weeks...starting next Friday, but today is the first day to check it out.

Happy Valentine's Day friends.
  Won't you be mine??

Oh, I so remember this feeling Becky and it's quite alright. Mommas get tired and weary, even when they love what they are doing and wouldn't trade for the world.

Yes, Pinterest can put one's mind on overload for sure.

So excited about your participation and will check that out shortly.

Enjoy your day and do nothing if you want to and do NOT feel guilty.

Happy Hearts Day!

I feel like life must have seasons of just BEING! That's where I'm at with small children, I dont do half the stuff I want to, and it's a-ok. Have a great Valentines Day!

You are as creative and productive as anyone on Pinterest! People (me) look at you with awe and wonder how you do everything you do. :-)

Just think what it meant to everyone that you were able to give 35 hours. That's a Valentine's gift in itself, to the teachers, to the kids. We all feel that overloaded feeling, but it's temporary until things get in balance again. You do an awesome job.

I haven't joined Pinterest yet. I know. I just have an issue that you have to be INVITED. I mean, why? I'm sure if I asked enough people, someone would issue me an invite, but it's the principle.

So if it makes you feel any better...I have done nada, nothing, zip for Valentines day!! A student brought Girl Scout cookies in that I purchased from her, and I thought, "Oh great, that will be the girls Valentine!" Im not sure why, kind of have the blah's myself.

And those crayon valentines from Pinterest...well, one over achiever mom made them and sent them with her son. They all fell off the little cards, so guess who has to glue them all back on before the party. You guessed it.

I love Pinterest, and have gotten some great ideas too, but mostly I think, "dang, why didnt I think of that!" :)

Have a great day!!

You are such a good mom that your family doesn't need home made valentines or fun desserts to show them you love them. You're enough.
CANNOT WAIT to check out the new blog! Hooray for creativity!!
Happy Valentines Day!

Ah man, I made the crayons and can 100% guarantee that I got far more pleasure from making them (as it involved friends, wine and nibbles) than Ben would have got from receiving them. At the end of the day, my boys know they are loved, any other bits are just a bonus.Rx

Love that you get to just BE. Soak it up, friend! Hope those songs keep a happy place in your memory, but leave for a bit so you can recover. ;) Love those melted crayon hearts. Someday, I will make them for my students! Looks like a cool project you are starting. Something I'm totally going to follow. Happy Valentine's Day, Becky!

I haven't been feeling particulary creative either...so many things going on in life at the moment. We all have our seasons...meanwhile I DO feel like writing which is grand because writing is my first love:)

What beautiful images from Pinterest.

I am giving my family a "heart attack" today for Valentines. I figured it was something fun yet not too time consuming.

Have a Happy DAY!

Oh and I look forward to that new blog!

Happy Valentine's Day Becky! I had BIG plans for handmade creations all over the place too, but it didn't happen over here either..AND, I was NOT at school last week for 35 hours. LOL. So I hope there is a Pinterest Slug group we can join together. :) Hope you are filled up today with all kinds of goodness.
PS The Mulan pictures looked wonderful!

I know what you mean about Pinterest. As exciting as it may be, it still has a way of making me feel very inadequate, at times. I'm sure I'll get over it! Wishing you all the success you're due on your new blogging adventure!

I made myself a goal with Pinterest.
I pin everything I want to do, but my goal this year is to try to make one recipe off my 'Satisfying the Rumbly in My Tumbly' board per week. I may not be able to tackle all the crafts and sewing that I have my heart set on, but maybe next year I'll try to do one craft a week...it's a motivational tool for me. hehe...
I know what you mean about being burned out...I was in a musical once and all the long hours and repetition, is fun, but then your ready to be done.
So just be today...be still, be restful, be loved!

Pinterest freaking kills me. I WANT to do it all.

But alas...

I can not.

guess what I'm doing? (besides commenting on your blog) I'm watching Pan Am episodes. I am SUCKED IN!! Have you ever watched it before? Those girls are so cute... so CUTE! I was born in the wrong era. (This is what I do when I'm sick. I watch TV that I'd never watch any other time.)

Love you!

You know you are going to ROCK this new blog ~ how exciting to be a contributor! I so love Pinterest and have found some great ideas but I have a problem with the follow through ~ at least right now I have an excuse to become one with the couch when I finally get home at night but I can't use that forever now can I??!! Happy Valentine's Day sweetie. xo

I quit pinterest b/c I pinned stuff and never did any of it. I decided I was wasting time. I hate being gone like that. That is how I feel some times with being at the assisted living place and then I feel guilty. Happy Valentine's Day my sweet friend.

I made those cheesecake stuffed strawberries and they are amazing!! Only recommendation...don't use low fat or fat free cream chese. They taste funky when that is done. I tried to be all healthy and it backfired on me. Go big or go home! :)
I also made a similar banner and it was cute! The homemade Valentines did not happen this year and probably won't happen ever. Instead, I went with the cool mom approach and got lego star wars valentines for lego, star wars loving little boy!

I hope your Valentine's Day was glorious!
