We finally got around to taking Big Chick out for her birthday dinner. She picked PF Chang's...thank ya Jesus! Seriously one of my favorites and we rarely get there. We called up her bestie. Yes I said bestie and she came along.
Can I just say this girl is such an answer to prayer? There were a few times when I felt like oh my goodness what in the world did we do to her?? Those late night cry session. The lack of having someone to tell her secrets too. It broke my heart. Seriously it felt like I'd ruined her life by moving here, and then little by little a friendship grew and she confided in me that this girl was her bestie. PRAISE GOD...a bestie!!! And she's a complete sweetheart too...phew;) We all need at least one right??
We had an hour to burn to get a seat for dinner, so what did we do?? We went to Anthro of course. This is only the second time I've been there since we've moved here. Having an Anthropologie was kind of a prerequisite for moving here. I had to know there was a well of inspiration somewhere close and thank God almighty there was.
I hardly ever buy anything. I'm a little cheap that way, nut there have been a few times that I've lost my mind and splurged. I don't look back. It's kind of a lapse in good judgement, but the uniqueness of their stuff deserves to have spot somewhere right?
Oh and then there is Restoration Hardware. I can't walk through this store without thinking of my friend Lissa. It just screams LISSA! Oh the beauty of it all. If only I had a money tree in the back yard.
You know what dawned on me as I took this picture?? I can't pass a mirror without taking a picture of myself! What in the world is that about? Geesh!! Maybe it's because no one knows how to use my camera and if I didn't there would never be a picture of me on here at all. Love the squinty face...nice;)
Okay so good tip to know. Tell the waiter you are STARVING and it's your daughter's birthday and they will buy you TWO appetizers and bring her dessert. WHAT?? I know! Seriously we left there stuffed to overflowing and for the first time EVER little chick ate Chinese food. It was a special moment. She even surpassed us all and used chopsticks!!! Honey and I just looked at her in awe. I took a picture, because it was picture worthy, but it's so dang dark in there it didn't turn out.
So this was my fortune. I thought it appropriate...cause I have lots of dreams from my youth. Don't we all? And some adult dreams...like a new friend for my girlie and that my little one would eat with us at PF Chang's. Wowza if dreams don't really come true:)

I have never been to a PF Changs. There is one in Annapolis. I may have to check it out some time. I'm so glad your family is settling in to the new homestead. And, YA-a-eh, you like to look in the mirror. You're a cutie. :)

PFC is good love the soups and wraps. I have not been to Anthro this year but I must use my 15% off b-day card. So glad to hear that big chick had her BFF with her for her b-day dinner.
Oh, we love PF Changs...and their lettuce wraps! So good! Becky, you always seem to write the kind of post I need at the time. With my husband finally getting a job offer after 9 months, we're now facing a possible move to SC. I'm not too fond of the idea for numerous reasons...uprooting our daughter from her high school and her friends, being farther away from our oldest daughter, putting our house on the market (AGAIN!), etc. Just a lot on my heart...God knows! You and your family are proof that you can make things work...and happy endings are possible.
I've never eaten at PF Changs, but all I hear are good things! I've also never been to Anthro or Restoration Hardware. I better be gettin' out more. ;) So fun that Big Chick has a Bestie. That is so important to all of us girls, even more special at her age!

Oh how I know how important it is for your girl's to have a bestie. This post actually choked me up. My oldest found hers and her heart is still aching from her moving this past summer. My youngest chick has had such a hard year, finding only mean girls and still searching for friends.
I am so happy for your big chick, and she has great taste, PF Changs is amazing - love the lettuce wraps. We don't have one or an anthro anywhere near us, so that is exactly what I would have done while waiting. Happy Birthday to your girl and congrats to the momma for a job well done in raising your girl.

A long story short, my daughter, who floundered after a life altering event has found wonderful friends who I am just so grateful for. No one should go through life without good friends. Love PF Changs! Brings back lots of date night memories. The closest one to us is a good 45 minutes away, but so worth it. Ever been to Pei Wei? I believe it's owned by PFChangs and it's a little more fast-paced. The food isn't as fancy, but it's still quite good! Annnnd, we just had an Anthro open up close to us!!! I need to go. Real bad. ;)

Well, thanks for making me choke on my coffee as I was reading about Big Chick having a bestie now.......it made me cry! God is so good. She just looks so happy in these pics. I know what it's like to have to leave everything familiar and start at zero so I guess seeing her struggle has really touched me. Happy tears for her!
