House painting give-away...2 yr. blogiversary:)

Hi girlies...well today marks my 2 year blogging anniversary...YAY!!  I can't even believe it's been that long.  That's like forever in the blog world. I have to admit I'm a little proud.  It's been so much fun sharing my life...creating fun things...getting to know all of you.  What in the world did I do before??

I set out on this adventure with just a couple of goals.  I wanted to find a distraction from the long winters in Minnesota and eventually sell my artwork. God has helped me achieve both of these things.  Thanks to this blog my winter depression is so much better.  I think looking for the positive and sharing it has changed my focus.  I'm so grateful!

Anyway to celebrate big I will pick one reader to receive a custom home painting.  I love doing these.  It's an extremely personal thing...your home.  This is unconventional, but to enter the **home painting give-away**  I need ideas for cuff sayings.  So leave me a comment with what you would want your cuff to say.  Got it...it's a giveaway for a house painting, but I need a comment about my cuffs.  Sorry it's so confusing.  Rest assured, I will give one of them away too.  You've just got to wait for it.  Oh and if you're the winner and live in an apartment or don't want a home painting...we'll work something else out;)  I'll announce the winner on December 29th.  Good luck!

So I'm in the process of gathering all my supplies, but before I make too many I really want some ideas for sayings.  They're kind of expensive to make, so it's just easier to ask you now:)  So bring me ideas ladies...lots and lots of ideas.

And finally a big shout out to my momma today.  It's her birthday:)  When I was home recently I found this picture of her when she was my age.  How weird is that?  Isn't she beautiful!!  You know how you have a memory of what your parents looked like when you were little??  This is how I remember my mom...young, beautiful, tan...my whole world.  She still is.  I love you mom.  Hope you have a very special day.  Feel my hug:)

Have a blessed day.

As for the custom home painting, that is so exciting. I'm renting my home but I know exactly what I would choose, it would be my great-grandmothers house in Indiana. My best memories took place there.

  10. OK... I know I'm suppose to leave a comment related to the cuffs... but first, I have to say - this house painting is SOOOO awesome! Is it possible that you just keep making them better and better? I love the warm colors you used too! Congratulations on your 2 yr anniversary! I found your blog after reading about Brave Girls & am SO glad i did! I read each & every post & I love starting my morning with your honest, insightful, & inspirational words.

OK.... and for the cuff... I think this scripture, 'Philippians 4:8', would be neat. I think it would be a good reminder for me to wear. (Kind of reminds me of Proverbs 7:3). I like the shaped metal pieces too (like the bird above).

Oh! And happy birthday to your mom! What a great pic! :)

  12. I think "Beloved" would look great on a cuff. Its such a sweet, and endearing name. And then to think that we are beloved by God. yep. "Beloved" on a cuff would be an awesome daily reminder that you are loved. Fun give a way by the way!!

  13. I love your house paintings. And I would like my cuff to say "Pretty Girl" or "Happy Girl" or "Strength" or "right" or "left". Can I think of more later? I would LOVE to win. I adore your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  14. HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY!! I am sure you have just created a new word today too!

If I had a cuff, it would definitely say "soul artist" or "expressionist" or "dream lover". Each of these hold a special meaning to me :)

Your mom is beautiful. You have her smile. Has anyone ever told you that? :)

  16. Happy Blogoversary!!! I loved that I found your blog and have been able to follow your artful journey! And Happy Birthday to your beautiful Mom!

For the cuff saying, I am very much in to the concept of choosing one word for each year to define how you want to live and be. I have been choosing a word each year for several years. I think a fun piece of jewelry highlighting our word would be great! You could perhaps do them as custom orders? My word this year is CHANGE. words I have had in past years have been CHOICES, SHINE, CREATE, SIMPLIFY.

I also think a great phrase to use is one that is fairly common and simple but one of my favorites: LIVE LOVE LAUGH

    xo

  17. I love the cuffs! And that photo of your momma is lovely. It also gave me the idea for a cuff:

    "momma's girl"

I was thinking it would make a great gift for a daughter. Plus, I love the juxtaposition of the leather and the sweet words.

And I should just mention...my home would look great encapsulated in one of your fab paintings! (hint hint...:)

    Blessings,

    Alison

  88. Becky!! 2 years ... I thought you were such a vet blogger when I came knocking into the blog world - my 2 years is in Feb....we're practically *twins*...ha!

    Lets see, some sayings:

    *surrender*
    *submit to Him*
*Jesus* or *Choose Jesus* or *Choose Him*
what about just a heart? or just a cross?
    *I believe*
    *Love is patient*
    *Love is kind*

Ok, those aren't original and probably repeats of the MANY fabulous ideas above - but those are what came to me.

I pray that the next 2 years are nothing but amazing for you when it comes to your blog...(does that mean that after that, you're on your own? Ok, you know what I mean....haha!) - and I am so blessed by your posts and really hope that 2011 is the year I get to meet & hug YOU!

  116. Hi Becky, first of all the photo of your Mother is awesome. She was a very beautiful woman at your age and now I see where you get your beauty from. You look just like your Mother. I hope your Mom had a very Happy Birthday.

Your cuffs are wonderful. I had no idea that you made those too. You certainly are very talented. How about, "move it or lose it" I say that a lot. :) "Keep Smiling" my father used to say that a lot. What about Hippy Chick? I tried but I'm not very good at giving very good ideas. I can hardly wait to see what you come up with.

Or, don't respond right now, listen, truly listen what this person is saying and feeling. Stretch beyond what is your norm, girl!

  140. Congrats Becky on your blogging anniversary. Your's was one of the first blogs I started following, I loved your blog header and when I discovered it was something that you had painted, I loved it even more. I live in my childhood home and would love to have a painting of your representation of it. As for the cuff, I personally would love to have one that says "firefly". The images of fireflies in old mason jars takes me back to my childhood, a time far less stressful and confusing than today. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Holiday season.

  147. Good Morning! Happy Anniversary...what time well spent! I have a couple ideas for your cuffs...

    Embrace Life

    Envelope Me

    Cherish Completely

    Simply Be

    Fill with Goodness

or how about just the word: Very. I love the word very. Look it up as an adjective... one simply word is quite meaningful.

Also, a popular short quote that I love is, "Home is where your story begins..." Don't know if you could fit all that on one cuff...but I think it's a great quote. :)

Good Luck! Let me know what you think. They're going to be beautiful no matter what. ;)

  149. I'm probably too late in posting this, but I think Ive got a great word for a cuff...

    "Gumption"

I dont know if youve ever seen the movie The Holiday, but its a word the character uses to describe a woman who has a special spark about her and who has alot to offer the world, even when she doesn't realize it. I thought it was a great word to inspire confidence... hey thats a good one too! "Inspire Confidence" looks like I'm on a roll :)
I live in an apartment in LA, but Im originally from Maui. I would certainly love a painting of my island home, and your work is gorgeous.
