I really enjoyed talking to my girlfriend from back home. She shared with me a little miracle that's been going on in her life and it blessed me, so I asked her if I could share it with you. For the past several years I've noticed some sadness in her regarding her relationship with her husband. They've been married for 15 years, things had gotten routine and the everyday stresses of kids etc... had left them arguing more than connecting. She said she felt like they were more roommates than husband/wife. I think we can all identify with this somewhat.

Well about a month ago her husband started acting differently. He had a dream that she cheated on him and from that moment on he's been a completely different person. It's like a light bulb went off and he's realized how he was taking her for granted. He calls her several times a day and texts her just to tell her how much she means to him. He wants to cuddle with her at night when they watch TV. He's planned a trip for just the two of them as a get away and lined up child care and everything:) They've been having lunch together several times a week...holding hands etc. He even sent flowers and a love letter to her at work. She cried.
Now if you are like me your first thought is oh no...WHAT DID HE DO?? Why? But here's the thing...God got a hold of his heart and shook him up. It didn't take a conversation from my friend or an actual event for this to happen. He had a wake up call and he's taking it seriously. I am beyond happy for her. I haven't heard her this bubbly and excited in a long time. I told her to cherish it, because really outside of those first few dating or newlywed months those exciting "courting" moments are very few and far between. It's even changed her attitude, convicted her heart to do better...give more.
So on that note here are some more Love Dare cards. I hope that they are blessing your relationship and changes are happening:)

ReplyDeleteI took the Revive our Hearts Husband challenge a year ago...that alone helped me stop my bad behaviours and look at him with renewed hope and happiness. Kudos on the love dare, wonderful idea :]

ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of Fireproof in a way. I am so happy for your friend. And, I hope this post will inspire others to examine their marriages and motivate them to stop taking their spouses for granted. I'm guilty of doing that sometimes; it's an easy trap to fall in. Thanks for sharing!!

I love stories like this! They help remind us all that each day is a choice and you can choose to be part of your marriage or not but the reward is GREAT when you choose to be in it. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteOh Becky - the flu is the worst...I hope she's feeling better!
ReplyDeleteWhen you first started posting about the Love Dare - I immediately bought the book. I watched the movie, and could easily see how a marriage can turn if it isn't nourished. I haven't opened it (had it for a good week now) because I've been hurting so much - and my pride was stopping me.
This story of your friend is amazing and touched my heart. I need to pay attention to those signs I get from Him to step out of my pride and into my relationship with Him and my husband.
Thank you so much for your story today, it has met me where I am at this very moment, and I don't think it is an accident!
So blessed by you!
xoxo

A GOOD THING TO SHARE. YES, MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS..HUM, WHAT IS HE TRYING TO COVER UP? BUT PRAYERS ARE ANSWERED AND MAYBE HERS WERE. A NICE WAKE UP CALL..THE LORD CAN DO THAT. YOUR BLOG LOOK HERE IS SO PRETTY, I DON'T THINK I HAVE TOLD YOU THAT, BUT I REALLY LIKE IT! HAVE A GREAT DAY, COME SAY HI :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post! I am so glad you shared this...such a blessing!
ReplyDeletebeautiful story... May we all be encouraged to make our marriages be the best they can be thru Christ! I am working to push past those dreary days of same ole-same ole and simply start with a big smile when he walks in the door rather than all my trials from the kiddos
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful about your friend and her hubby. A wise person told us when we were raising our children that it was important for us as a married couple to go out on a date together once a week or at least every other week. (even if it was just for a coke) It's so easy when raising your children to put your spouse and your relationship towards the bottom of the list. Many couples split up after the kiddos are raised because they don't know each other anymore and forgot to continue courting one another. I'm so glad she told us these wise words, because I love dating my husband.
ReplyDeleteHope Little Chic is feeling better tonight!

ReplyDeleteHello new items in the etsy store! Yippee!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing that. I am so in need of becoming better as a wife. Thank you so much for the encouragement!
Great story. We gotta hold on to what we got.
ReplyDeleteGREAT story with such a nice message. I love it when I read posts that I need to hear. I've been grousing (in my head quietly) about my husband traveling so much and being so bogged down when he is home. I turned it tonight for myself from a "poor me who is doing all homebase duties" to "what can I do for him in this crazy time in his job? what does HE need?"
ReplyDeleteFelt so much better thinking that way...I'm loving the DARE book. It's a good one.

ReplyDeleteSo happy for your friend! Love that they didn't have to go through REAL pain to get to this place! Great story.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a beautiful story, Becky!! Thanks your friend for letting you share it on here to bless so many reader's lives!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I went through some amazing counseling about 8 years ago and we learned so much about our marriage and the way we each connect with the other. We had already been married about 7 years at that point, but it was such an amazing experience and changed our lives and the course of our relationship for all eternity. But I have to say that not all counselors are created equal. We truly found a wonderful guy who worked with us. He had a set period of 12 weeks to work through various tasks. And he felt that if, after 12 weeks, a couple hadn't seen improvement, then maybe they didn't want improvement. He said it like this, "My job is to work myself OUT of a job with every couple who comes to me." It was a pretty fascinating concept.
Anyway, all of this to say that we now suggest re-committing relationships or seeking counseling no matter HOW wonderful and amazing and "on fire" they are. Even the couple who's been happily married for 20, 30, or 40 years could use some time to rekindle and re-evaluate. Even GREAT can get BETTER. And not everyone is "blessed" with a dream of infidelity. LOL
Thanks, again, girl!
