When Honey and I got married one of the first "things" to fall into place was the rules on decorating. When he wanted to hang posters in the living room that's when a "contract" had to be put into place;) Unfortunately for him the house is basically mine HA! That is it looks like mine. He will tell you though that he loves how I decorate, so we figured it out and came to a compromise.

He has one room to call all his own...his office space. But of course there are even touches of me in there. WHAT? I can't help it. I know it's kind of a sickness really;)

First thing you see when entering his space...our lives together. Isn't that a great idea?;) Love this frame...I got it at TJ Maxx a few years ago.

Recently we reorganized everything. It was a pit, literally. Papers and file folders everywhere. So we made a trip to IKEA and voila...order! He's a much happier version of himself now. Everything is in it's place and chaos doesn't reign anymore.

Little sign hanging over his desk.

The wall of honor!

I've mentioned before that he LOVES inspirational quotes. He devotes an entire bulletin board to them:)
A little reminder to him. Not to stress!
AfterAmazing what a little can of spray paint can do. At least now it stands out and makes a statement...RELAX will ya??
Now if we could just get this mess organized:)!! And yes his closet is in the same room. Hey a girl needs her closet space;)
Have a blessed day.

Ha! A girl needs her closet space, indeed!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a very productive and organized workspace! Lovin' it!
Wow, Honey is good....altho I suspect your work is in there somewhere too!!! What a productive looking office space.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know I have said this before.....but I love that he puts up inspirational quotes...he is quite something!!
Love that first quote - I have that saved somewhere too :)
I love the way you decorate too! The hardest thing to do as you get older is CHANGE! It's also the best thing you can do. I would love to wave a magic wand and redo all our furniture since it's 39 years of a little of this and a little of that. But since I have no magic wand, I keep my eyes open for bargains!
ReplyDeleteHe is very lucky that you have allowed him space inside the house and just not the garage! lol I really like the board of quotes ~ I like quotes too. I must say the Relax looks MUCH better in the black against that wall color. Good job Mama Chick!
ReplyDeleteoh my, that is way too funny. My man and I have had similar conversations when we first got married. Unfortunatly (for him), we had no (extra)room in the house for his own "OFFICE/DEN" until now (when we moved into this farmhouse). He justs wants his "Stuff" out of boxes, but then they'll just go randomly...up, wherever it will fit...etc. He thinks that the house looks like he doesn't live here.
ReplyDeleteUHMMM!
We actually now have a room that is to be our spare bedroom, sewing room and office combined. I'm trying to figure out how to NICELY put it all together. I can't complain too much, because this office thing has been a desire of his for a long time, and rightly so, but it's almost a place where I just need to shut up.
I really like what you did. And, how you handled it. Looks great!!
I had to draw the line with Posters when we got married, too. He has a few hanging in the garage. That is his room. . .
ReplyDeleteHis space is great!
ReplyDeleteWe are the same way with decor issues. Hubby just knows now after all these years to just let me handle it. But, like you, I decided he does need a room that is all his. After all, I have a pretty big craft room that is all mine. He has a lot of sports memorabilia that he has collected over the years and most of it is packed away. I have resisted having it displayed for so long. But then I realized, what would it hurt? Luckily, the teams he loves, The Red Sox and the NE Patriots, primary colors are red and blue...two colors I love. We can make this work. So oiur den/office will now be the sports-themed den/office. It is still a work in progress, but he is happy with it. Enough that I can do whatever I want to the rest of the house! :-)
what a great job ya'll have done ...nothing like organization! all your special touches look so great

Looks like a great office! My husband and I recently started to share home offices, even though he has one above the garage, all of his own....ahem ahem... :P He has acquired the other corner of this room and we've got to do something with the extra paper that is driving me bonkers. ;) I like the idea of your DH's organized shelves on the wall.
ReplyDeleteExcellent Man office! I know I thank my lucky stars on a regular basis that Cory has no opinions (well, almost none) about how to decorate our home. I'm also thankful that he knows how to use power tools. That comes in quite handy!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! So, when are ya coming over? I have bare walls....lots of 'em.
ReplyDeleteI love the "Relax". It looks awesome in black paint. Great Office Space.
ReplyDeleteI like the office! One day I want an office, a place to get to work!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I also love how my husband wanted to have the only input in his office organization and decor and now that he's done it his way for 4 years, he's okay with me stepping in! :)
ReplyDeleteMy honey only gets the garage....to which I still kind of organize and clean all the time :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE organization! I LOVE organization! Hooray! I think the office looks fantasitc! Where are all the sports banners, signed baseballs, footballs, frames baseball cards, etc? My hubby doesn't have an office at home but I'm describing my brother's office.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad my hubby doesn't want a say in our decorating. I mean it's not like he would have one anyways... :)
love his quotes space...that is very cool.
ReplyDeletehugs

Wow! Does he work from home? That is A LOT of files and paperwork!!! My hubby is dappling in the "working from home" arena. "My" office space is quickly being taken over...we are just beginning to figure out how to blend it or develop a smaller space somewhere else for me. (His job obviously takes precedence over my volunteer "jobs!") Any photos of your space to share???
ReplyDeleteI loved your family collage & the wall of quotes!
Oh eye candy! I love it when people post on how they decorate. I swear I'm addicted to blogs about decorating. I could get lost in the 'web' for hours on that subject! I too paint everything black! I love it. Love the IKEA organizers! Too cool! Hmmmm "What would I do if I knew I would not fail" very good! PS- IKEA sells closet organizers too! haha
ReplyDeleteI really like that frame. Great room!
ReplyDeleteWhat I would do for my own closet space. :)
Umm, could you please come organize my house? Pretty please- you really are only a few thousand miles away!
ReplyDeleteWhat this is his space!! my hubby would be so jealous, his only space is in the garage! but it looks like mine doesn't have anywhere near the design style as your hubby! love the color of the room, and the little touches, and the order of things...makes my OCD smile! xo
ReplyDeleteWOW I love the Ikea organization!
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that he's able to do whatever he wants in his office, but yet he loves your decorating so much that he invites you into his space to add some fab flare! Such a great work space!
ReplyDeleteHis office is soooo cool!! You did do a great job on his space!!
ReplyDeletehow nice of your to give him a room! very nice office space! envious!
ReplyDeletehe is one lucky guy to have his own office... my hubby started out with one and I slowly took it over, and now I want to redo his shed... hee hee

ReplyDeleteOooh. .. an office. Mine has been squeezed into a small space in the corner of our family room. {sighs}
ReplyDeleteGood for you for giving him his own room, I won't even give mine that much (poor guy). Looks awfully good for a guy's room!!!
